I work in shipping and export a lot of Spirits (whisky etc). Our agent in Macedonia asked,in all seriousness,if we
were shipping ghosts as he'd never heard of another meaning for spirits.

Scotland can welcome all the refugees they want, if they are so compassionate they should take all they can logistically handle or else who are they to try to get up on a pedestal? What are you trying to prove? Lets see how much compassion the Scots have if they suffered a terrorist attack. Er... L...

Although Scotland has a good record of accepting refugees and making them welcome,it's by no means a case of 'open doors'. All the refugees have come directly from camps and been thoroughly vetted by both the UN and UK security to confirm they are genuinely vulnerable victims of the conflicts -they ...

In this day and age, it is utterly ridiculous for a small, impoverished place like Scotland to strike for independence. They would end up going down the toilet like Greece. I'm not in favour of independence, but Scotland isn't actually impoverished.Whisky for example accounts for a quarter of the UK...

I realise there are valid points on both sides of the debate, but it's interesting to see the actual wording of the Bill Of Rights : "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed" This could be ...

Glebel our country grew out of 13 colonies. So we evolved from the previous British establishment. The thing that was supposed to make our country exceptional is that we were the first modern democracy. The only thing that is making us exceptional among first world nation is the massive amount of g...

I don't really see how having segregated toilets relates to not being treated equally. If both men and women are provided with their own facilities at appointed places then isn't that an example of being treated equally ? p.s. I have used the term toilets rather than restrooms, because British English...

As long as there are still some segregated toilets that people can choose if they're not comfortable for whatever reason, or for efficiency (men can get in and out of toilets much more quickly, thanks to urinals). That's the only way it would work - having an integrated toilet as a 3rd choice. It's ...

I'm afraid the signs were there,it's been a familiar scenario in the UK recently, where the cases in particular of
'family entertainers' Jimmy Saville and Rolf Harris have seen our illusions of them shattered by revelations of their dark sides.

All we can say really is that we have sympathy with everyone affected and have praise for the bravery of those who faced up to the terrorists - such as the tourists and locals in Tunisia who did their best to protect them by forming a human shield.

By all accounts he was as much a gentleman in real life as the characters he played on screen.Avengers was his defining role but I also remember him in episodes of Columbo and Frasier.

I saw one of Napoleon's descendants on tv being interviewed at a farm on the battlefield, which will now be made into a tourist attraction. If Napoleon had won it's possible he could have rebuilt his empire and we would all be speaking French as our first language today (and I include Americans in th...
