Also, still in regards to the DSM-IV criteria, what are some examples of "social reciprocity"? I do not understand what social reciprocity means in this context. Wonder if I have it? I think you should explain to them that you're compensating , to start off. Continue to compensate though. Social re...

I am in sort of the same boat in that I want to know but it is of little actual value to me. What you could do is get a diagnosis and not tell the school. That way, you have it for your records if you need it in the future. As for the social stuff, see if you can get the therapies that are used for...

Your school won't put you in a special class unless you need the help. If you got diagnosed with AS, doesn't mean they'll start treating you any different.

Good to know, thanks! I haven't had much experience with this kind of thing.

So, I've been taking a lot of tests and doing a lot of research about Asperger's syndrome, and I have reason to suspect that I have it. I won't go into details, as I made a whole different post about it. The problem here is, I would like to be diagnosed, but I have such a mild case of AS that I don'...

Well, I can understand why this is tough for you to see, and it's probably frustrating for both of you. Since she is his first girlfriend, he may grow especially attached. I would say to just wait until it ends naturally for them. It would help your son learn to find someone better in the future, ra...

Thanks, questor :D I found a link to a very helpful test in the general autism forum and this was my score: 137 of 200 for AS 72 of 200 for NT Very likely an Aspie. So I think I will talk to a counselor but tell him not to act on anything right away so nothing is disturbed quite yet. My mom still th...

@alecazam - You're a pretty good writer. It's refreshing. I get so tired sometimes of having to wade through poor grammar and spelling just to get the gist of someone's post. It's very tiring to "correct" their mistakes as I'm reading. The fact that lots of these posters are twice your age is also ...

you can take an online test :) Thanks so much! This one helped much more than the others I've taken! Aspie score: 137 of 200 NT score: 72 of 200 Very likely an Aspie. Of course, this can't conclude that I have it. I'll need a professional diagnosis, and I plan to see one. I would kind of want to ha...

I do not believe autistic behavior is sensory issues. Autistics/aspergers tend to have sensory issues ie: co-morbid sensory processing disorder (SPD) So - you can be autistic or have aspergers without sensory issues - but it is common for aspies to have them But to just let you know - getting angry...

I'm not really sure where else to go about this issue, but I think I have Asperger's syndrome. I have related to a lot of articles and seen a lot of myself in the symptoms of Asperger's. Sorry if this is a long post, but bear with me. I tend to have very obsessive, narrow interests. For instance, I ...

I'm going through the same thing (except in the US), and it's annoying. My mom keeps telling me not to label myself and that I'm fine and that it's teenage awkwardness, although she does listen. I don't want to talk to a school guidance counselor for fear that I'll be put in a special class or somet...
