I think in a way it has gotten worse for me. The sensory stuff seems worse, and the social stuff seems worse and harder to handle but it could be that I'm in less tolerant circumstances right now so it is making it more difficult. I got a job in a little more of a "professional environment"...

Yeah its like a zone where you can have control and be completely happy studying or doing just what you want. I had a co-worker who referred to my apartment as my fortress of solitude lol. It is, I get kinda territorial over my space. Whatever you want?! How good are you at your special interest? I...

The noise of stadium sports is what I find most overwhelming, but I find a good set of earplugs helps take the edge off. So many people is a bit daunting, but I if I went with someone I trusted I think it would be okay and I might enjoy a good game. I'm not sure what a sporting venue could do to ma...

Your Score: 15/20 Not bad. Your score means you're better than the average at reading expressions. I think a lot of the facial expressions were exaggerated though. Facial expressions are more subtle than that and are not black and white. I agree the more subtle expressions can be hard to read. Lol ...

Yeah I got 12/20, not too bad. Some of them seem like it could be multiple emotions being expressed, hard to pick the right one.

That's ok. As I was going back over what I wrote I thought "wait hope that didn't come across as cultish". Hugs! I didn't take it that way at all! I know that you meant a congenial community of like-minded or neurodiverse folks who are respectful of one another. I think I'm the freak for ...

It would be nice if we could have a place we could all live where we didn't have to try to keep up with everyone else and not have to struggle so much. Like a protected community or something. I like the idea of not trying to keep up, and not struggling, but the idea of a protected community gives ...

I was replying to the other thread about special interests and keeping them secret or not, and it got me thinking of something I have pondered before. I wonder if special interests for us are kind of like a way to cope and feel happy and in control about something. I just was thinking because this p...

I tend to keep it secret, at least I did when I was younger. Now my husband can't help but know about what I'm into now, but he's ok with it. I don't tend to drive him nuts about it. I don't really talk about it with other people though. I know what you mean though about feeling sorta possessive abo...

Yeah I hear ya, my niece is in college and she talks about these experiences, how she's getting a house with her friends and they are going to live there while going to class, and her job and stuff. I am just flabbergasted because when I went to a little local 2 year school I didn't have any friends...

Does this tend to be a common feeling amongst autistics? I often feel this way. At my age I always figured somehow magically I'd have it "more together" by now, but now that I have figured out I'm most likely autistic realize this is why its never going to really happen. It just gets alien...
