In short, yes, it's called BAP. However, more generally there is wide range of people in the autistic spectrum, most people don't have all the traits.

What does BAP mean? Borderline Autistic Presentation?

I feel half Aspie/half Kanner's. :/

I think I know what you mean. For me I'm f*****g terrible at socializing with people in person. I have internet friends but only a few in-person friends. When it comes to socializing I've been lost ever since middle school gave me almost incurable social anxiety. ATP I've given up on socializing. I...

Many people here have friends they hang out with. But are there any aspies here, like me, who were born almost completely without the 'social gene'? Maybe 2% of the time I'll want to socialize, and then never for long. The rest of the time is spent completely isolated from others, even family. As if...

in the little wide spot in the road about 40 minutes driving time away from me [the county seat and the town closest to me hermithole] they roll up the sidewalks @ 5PM. :nerdy: But, but, the world doesn't stop at 5/6pm! I'm used to bigger cities and municipalities where things stay open 9pm or later.

Social games, huh? I guess that's why I don't flirt or have much of a comprehension of it. I hate social games.

The focus is on what a person might need help with. What you are good at--that you are free to pursue to the best of your ability. It's been like that my whole life, and I'm so fed up with it. It's like the disability is all that matters. This sounds like me... YAY family! The problem is we live in...

One should be identified by one's totality.

Ability should be emphasized at least as much as disability.

Thank you, kraftiekortie. I don't know why this is considered taboo.

This is a mini-rant, brought to you by FedUpAsp. I'm fed up, frustrated, confused, disgusted, you name it. Why is it all right to be identified by your deficits but not your strengths? I am someone who is both disabled and has a high IQ (here we go again.) Yet, I am only identified by my disabilitie...

yes, one my first days in college we were given a lecture about students committing suicide because they got bad grades. These people are sometimes considered "intellectually gifted" based on testing scores - which is why it pains them so much. However, how smart is suicide because of bad...

Are you sure you don't mean Oppositional Defiant Disorder? I've heard of it. I call BS on it being a legitimate disorder. It seems silly, at least to me.; 3 year olds will be 3 year olds, not listen, and have tantrums (as distinct from meltdowns.) I was never diagnosed with it myself.

Did I prompt this rant? It was multiple people on multiple different websites. I can't remember if you were one of them. I hope not. I don't want to upset anyone here. I was just amazed and posted about it when I found out what my IQ classification meant in numbers. Why it means so much is kind of ...

Wow. My mom also thought I was autistic (not sure where she learned of it from) when I was an older child. No idea why she thought this, but at the time, Asperger's wasn't a diagnosis. Autism was still considered extremely rare and the doctors who saw me said I was not autistic because I could speak...
