Forum: General Autism Discussion   Topic: Are you a visual thinker?

There's a spectrum of visual thinking ability. People who can only think in language are on the far left end, and people who think only in pictures are on the far right end. According to what I have read, most people are towards the left end. I would imagine that, for me, I am towards the right end ...

Have you ever read Noam Chomsky or Howard Zinn? You can get a pretty good idea of what constitutes the American population. It's quite similar in most nation states. 20% of the population make the major decisions, and the rest, the other 80%, are sheep. That is why people in America have lined thems...

Have you ever wondered where the word "GOD" might have come from? Take a look at the word real hard for a couple of minutes and then think real hard about it. Don't you notice something unusual? If you notice it, it has got to make you wonder why such a person would come up with the word "GOD." - Ra...

Look! The people didn't put him in office. Money put him in office. He was and probably still is the biggest contributor for the GOP. If you look even further, you find out that the Supreme Court made the final decision to put him in office. And the second electoral process that got him in office, t...

I believe Baron Cohen was the one to have used a particular test with autistic individuals. It was a test where there was something under a basket. I'm not exactly sure as to how the test actually goes, but it ends up with the person picking the wrong basket. The explanation is that the person didn'...

It all depends on my mood and what I am doing. I can be extremely quiet for hours, saying almost nothing. I can then get into a discussion and ramble on and on for over an hour. With me, it tends to depend on my mood at the time. I tend to be introverted for the most part, so my thinking is very dee...

Don't have much of a problem with reading between the lines, but I have to have heard the expression before to understand what it means. As far as "knocking down the door," I have little clue as to what that might have meant. I guess, thinking deeply about it, it could mean that you're piling up so ...

I have never heard of a weighted blanket, either, before reading stuff about aspergers, autism and so forth. I have always needed a heavy blanket to fall asleep, and I sometimes believe that I need something even heavier. I also sleep in a really cold room with a fan not too far away. I also have th...

I heard that everyone dreams, and it's just that some people do not remember what they were dreaming about. I tend to have either very vivid dreams or dreams that I can't remember. Most dreams that I have are unusual and unrealistic, and I think they become more vivid if the stress level is high. I ...

Yes ... I have a turntable. It is still sort of common, but primarily in the underground. They still use 45's, which are now called 7". Some bands put out collector full-length LPs, sometimes with colored vinyl. I admit, though, it's becoming more and more obsolete.

Nine Inch Nails used to be good, when they were an industrial band. I don't consider their new album industrial. In fact, it is widely more radio friendly. They are played on most corporate alternative radio stations, for example. I thought Ministry was going in the same direction, too, with their p...

I would not agree to participate in anything like that. I think reality shows are based on sheer competition. It's sort of the kinds of shows that jocks like. They're so full of bullying and nonsense, all done for some sort of financial reward.

There has to be something unusual about them for me to get into them. I find most to be just plain ridiculous. I can into skit comedies...

I think Christopher Columbus discovered America because I believe in history. Well, if you believe in history as it is taught in schools, then you have latched firmly onto a course in well-versed propaganda. The fact remains that there is yet history that is not taught in schools, like how America ...

I had no trouble writing essays or research papers. Besides, in college you have to type everything. It's the law, almost. There is truly no handwriting involved. In fact, hand-written assignments aren't even accepted. So, that should be a major factor in helping many of us achieve. I used to think ...

There is such thing as Aspie Savants which work really well with puzzles and such. You must be good at math by the looks of it. Actually, I'm good at certain math concepts. I can solve equations and all, graphs and more, but conceptually ... like why I am sort of doing what they're teaching ... tha...
