It's interesting that people want to leap in and criticise rather than respond supportively to a genuine call for help and support. That kind of tells me my presence here is unwelcome and that I am seen as an intruder. I am sad about that as I thought this was somewhere I might be understood better.... |

I was explaining my situation and asking for help and support. I thought that was obvious. |

I did wonder about using signatures on this site as I can see no means of adding one. Usually it's a very simple process with most other forum software. |

My report last year to enable transition to a new disability benefit said I had " very poor social skills " . I have never been able to pin down a precise or near precise definition of " social skills" . All I know is that I have had a lifetime of difficulty interacting with othe... |

Interesting. Do you think it's possible for someone to have a mix of NLD and Aspergers traits?
In that people often tend not to fit something perfectly, and there are often overlaps in terms of symptoms/presentation, I would say yes. |

My official current dx is paranoid personality disorder but I also definitely have traits of schizotypal and avoidant. At prep school I was mildly teased and it was once suggested I was the 'missing link' . At public school it was much worse and the most mortifying event was having monkey chants aim... |

I don't drive as I would be death on the road due to poor reactions and spatial difficulties. However like you I am very reliant on landmarks . Where I do best is if there are not too many "turn left turn left again turn right" type directions needed. |

I was wondering what people's sense of direction was like. Mine is poor and I struggle in unfamiliar areas. This has made me mildly agoraphobic ( can leave the house but very restricted as to where I'll go by myself). Even though I have lived in the area for nearly 20 years I can't explain how to ge... |

I have "meltdowns" usually under acute stress. I become verbally aggressive, hysterical , irrational and paranoia ramps up. |

I think there is living alone and there is living alone . . The difference is in the ability to call on company when needed. With the former you can enjoy your own space when necessary but are only a phone call away from having company when the desire arises. It's when you have no choice or your cho... |
