Hi, I'm doing Excel to MySQL: Analytic Techniques for Business Specialization at Coursera. It started a week ago, and in the beginning it's a lot about learning economic vocabulary - I guess the interesting stuff will come later. Next I want to look at Data Science and Python, but I talked to someon...

You know, princess, this is all very new to you. I was thinking about AS for half a year before I joined this forum. Dealing with a new diagnosis can be a harrowing thing. Be patient with yourself. People can have a lot of stereotyped ideas of what people with AS can and cannot do, even psychologist...

For me, and I can only speak for myself, as long as I was afraid of the impact that having kids would have on my life (for me, the ability to do what I wanted when I wanted, to spend my money on what I wanted to spend it on, and to be able to spend the weekends hanging out with my friends), I was n...

I have a weird relationship with 'normal' bread, so taking sandwiches is not that easy for me. I suspected that, when I saw you were so focused on food....... I am like that too. Had a lot of vague health problems and minimal energy for years. Then I went gluten free, just like Kuraudo, and the fog...

Criticism is fine but I see a lot more outright insult, mockery and blanket assumptions and even implications they should be barred certain rights such as running for president directed at muslims in general than actual criticism of Islam itself. Do you mean here on this forum, or in the US, or in ...

Hi, wannabeprincess! I'm new too, and very happy that I joined. I hope that connecting with people on this forum will help you. It's rather a relief to see people struggling with the same problems and actually sharing solutions. Maybe your new psychologist knows how to set you up with services at th...

I understand your reasoning, but I guess Muslims do believe men can be modest without women wearing a headscarf, I think it's just an additional measure. Islam not only forbids something, but its philosophy is to close all the doors to sin. What does sin have to do with hair? Anyway, the whole head...

I am totally aware that Islam was not historically as awful as it is today in for example Saudi Arabia. The muslim world is a big place, and different places have different traditions, and quite a lot of so-called muslim countries were in fact very multicultural. The Jewish diaspora has traditionall...

An idea is not entitled to the sort of respect and consideration a person is entitled to. An idea doesn't have feelings. I respect people who respect me. Considering how most religions badmouth women, I feel that the gloves are off. If I as a woman have to listen to this s**t, then the adherents of ...

I know the capitalists want mothers with young children to rejoin the work force but I find it ironic that capitalists want children to be raised in a communist collective. *Giggle* Yes, very good point. What DW_a_mom said. I was just about to tell you you don't have to decide in the middle of the ...

I love The Bridge. The characters are wonderful, the actors great, and when I watched it I realized how nice it is to see a tv show that is not hysterical and glammed up. I usually can't watch tv series, but this one I lovee.

You know, sometimes blaming oneself is easier than accepting that nothing can be done. It opens a window of opportunity -"If I only try harder". If she demands a lot from herself, it becomes natural to demand a lot from others. Seems your wife is suffering from a major case of feeling help...

I'm probably so open minded my brain fell out :) Actually, I missed out on so much fun in my life because I wanted things just so, so I decided to imagine less and try more. With breaks in between. Have you seen the film "Yes man"? It's an interesting experiment. Perhaps a little on the ex...

Yeesh, guys. Why do we all accept as true that it was the parents complaining? I just realized I had a similar experience, and adult - a kindergarten teacher no less - telling me a version of "everybody hates you". At the time, it was very hurtful, but I quickly realized that the statement...

Perhaps talk to some other person in the kindergarten, just not the one who picked on you? They are not a hive mind, chances are that this person will have picked on someone else there. I have a child in kindergarten, and my experience is that some people who work in those places are open minded and...

It's really great that you took control and talked to administration before this problem started snowballing. Seriously, college is so much nicer than just about anything else. Consider that there are other students who are also anxious - just not on the level that you are. If you seem a bit shy and...
