Sometimes my quiet meltdowns only last a few minutes if I can get to a quiet dark place immediately. Sometimes they last for hours but that is pretty rare.

Your meltdowns are yours...no one else can know what is happening to your or how best to categorize it.

No need to apologize at all! That being said, i am super happy to hear of your internal progress.

[And kudos going to an SEC game...there are tens of thousands of humans at those events! I would have a meltdown for sure. ]

My guess would be that it is simple too challenging for researchers to isolate mental endurance from general mental acuity. If they were able to do this, it would likely take a bit of time which most behavioral research labs do not have the resources (i.e. money to pay researchers to sit around obse...

A racing mind along with promises i haven't kept. ^ this, plus every tiny sound startles me. The worst bit for me is quite often I feel myself falling asleep. It is a falling sensation and that generates a panic response, which wakes me up, often bolt upright shouting out. The wife doesn't like it ...

I am an engineer so i have to say that math wins out for me. Although, I have played several instruments throughout my life and often color/draw to relax. I have also read that mathematics and music are very closely linked to one another so, often people will have aptitudes in both. I don't know how...

In that case, I bet the underfunded state institution just didn't diagnose him properly. The picture you paint is very much Jekyl and Hyde-like. I would recommend getting him to a better doctor if he is willing. The protractness of his current episode could indicate that his dissociative tendency is...

I was a gymnast so that is likely what caused mine. Genetics are also a cause. Some kids get scoliosis from the time they are babies and have to wear back braces while they grow to keep it from getting worse.

I wasn't diagnosed until age 29 and when I found out I was super relieved! So no, I don't think I would have been offended at all if someone had brought up the possibility sooner.

My problem tends to be people not believing that I am Aspie in the first place. Sigh.

Between age 16 and 24, I lost four inches of height. I went from 5'4" down to 5'0". It turned out that I had moderate-to-severe scoliosis and had no idea other than occasional back pain. I went through lots of painful chiropractic treatment coupled with physical therapy and yoga and got 3 of those i...

marycontrary,

Is it possible that your husband denies his extreme behavior and outburst because he does not remember them? Some sort of dissociative response to stress maybe?

I hated being hungry, I hated eating, I hated other people my age, I hated other people of other ages, I h...
