Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts kind people! I called my GP today and made an appointment to begin what will doubtless be A Long Process! My wife is very pleased. I am very scared. I think it is right for me though; I need to find out if this is definitely what is 'wrong' with me. Although...

Read through the threads here. If there are a lot of moments when you are saying OMG this is describing me EXACTLY, I can't believe there are others that do that or feel that way that would be an indication.

I have told this many times before but in the late 90's my boss told me that I had a little bit of autism. I thought he was the one with the quirks and bad social skills for saying that. Before I got that job the economy was booming for everyone except me. I was repeatedly told I did well in the int...

It does not surprise me that a book entitled "50 Shades of Grey" would be unpopular on a website where people tend to engage in black and white thinking.

Glad you found it interesting. I found the full movie for Change of Habit on youtube here. Between 25:00 and 26:40 Mary Tyler Moore diagnoses the girl and explains the cause which is what we know as "Refrigerator Mother" theory. She is "cured" by Elvis bet...

All situations will assume I did not tell my young self anything prior. 1. A little bit at a time tell him you have this thing currently not known about called Aspergers-Autism and explain how it effects everything you are about. 2. To your 10 year old self in 1968. Hit them back. I know this sounds...

I have been on various forums since 2000 and this site is by far the most annoying and time wasting with it's constant captchas, and error messages that have nothing to do with why I can't do what I want. As a person with executive function issues a lot of time is wasted when I have to in 2 or more ...

I was recently given a gift of Time Magazine (An American general newsweekly) subscription. When you get a subscription you get online access to every issue going back to the first one in 1923. So I searched for "Autism" and "Autistic". There will be some things to laugh at but a bunch of triggering...

So the answer is while one should have low expectations one should try. You need be aware that the line between realism and being so pessimistic that you defeat yourself is a hard one to determine. Autistics do get positions that range from tolerable but pays the bills to rewarding and lucrative. I...

Are you the type of person that needs to have an expert agree with your conclusions for validation? If you don't have an expert agreeing with you will you have crippiling doubt? Are you the type of person that will have crippiling doubt dispite a proffessional diagnosis?

My first impressions of people are usually wrong and that includes Wrong Planet members. Others have told me they think better of me then they did when they first met me. I am like a car that has been sitting out in the cold for to long. It can take me a long time to warm up or “get” people and situ...

Tell the evaluator that you've taken the test before. Write up the complicating factors and speculations you have about the questions. Then, pick the most accurate answer. Take the things to you wrote about and discuss them with the evaluator. The evaluator can then analyze your answers with the pr...
