It is even harder when every communication must be initiated with a purpose electronically. My manager also was an introvert and so was most of the r...

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_over_Avian_Carriers A silly (yet functional and practical) example of keeping choices for some layers while changing choices for others. https://avinetworks.com/glossary/layer-4-load-balancing/ This covers Load Balancing. Understanding the Layers can help understan...

Found this interesting piece of information about Edison, my childhood hero. Please reply with any electric train or Edison thoughts. “Edison was active in business right up to the end. Just months before his death, the Lackawanna Railroad inaugurated suburban electric train service from Hoboken to ...

Sometimes today’s tech imitates or is inspired by the movies (Star Wars in particular) https://www.nasa.gov/offices/oct/feature/spheres-how-a-class-project-turned-into-an-experiment-facility-in-space “ Imagine you’re sitting in class watching a scene from “Star Wars” and your professor assigns a pro...

So: how should a new Star Wars “long long time ago in a galaxy far far away” movie’s world look? Should their tech match our tech? If you are Disney and you don’t want to alienate a huge existing fan base, but also want to attract a new audience - what choices do you make? The original movie was mad...

Oh wow! yes my nephew has a remote controlled BB8 and it does almost look like the real thing. However in future I suspect they will stick the base model robots behind animated screens as the CGI is getting more and more complex. I have some reservations about the Star wars robots as they adhere to...

I once visited a robotics competition (VEX) hosted by Widener College. The hosts had invited some “real robotics” demonstrators for the kids to see (the kids who were competing with VEX kit built robots). One group of Widener students were trying to demo a Hampster Ball Robot - a bit like BB8. It h...

https://tinyimg.io/i/uboEHdN.jpeg https://tinyimg.io/i/2O1xRYn.jpeg A bit off topic. My 12 year old son was asking me about the different kinds of robot drives you can build. I told him about one used by one of the working R2D2 units that they used for the movie. I found the two pictures above to i...
