I've had mixed experiences...okay, mostly bad ones, I guess, because I can think of many people I used to think I was "friends" with who definitely do NOT consider me or want me as a friend anymore. One said I only talked about myself, and never asked her about her life enough. My response was that ...

The chat phenomena never ceases to amaze me. People drift in and out, many existing to us for maybe an hour, maybe a day, then vanishing back into the world, leaving behind only a trace on our memory, maybe leaving no imprint at all. Some might as well have never existed. Yet, occasionally, we will...

Same here. When it's a private call or a number I don't recognize, I don't answer the phone. Me, too. They can leave a message, if it's not a solicitor. And I'd generally rather send an email than make a phone call. But don't call me for no reason, "just to talk." I won't know how the hell to deal ...

Ouinon, I think you might have something in your theory. When I was at home with just babies, I went crazy. I went back to work and it helped my depression. I can't imagine being a stay at home mom in the fifties, with no choices. And no birth control. I would totally have gone nuts with the "mothe...

Such an incredibly simplistic/naive answer I have to question whether this was meant as sarcasm.

Everybody done gave up on me a long time ago. I'd say everybody I know, but I don't know nobody. Gotta get nationalistic here just for a second. The Marx Brothers were American. Top that. Sons of Jewish immigrants from Germany. Are the best American comedians generally Jewish? /discuss

Perhaps a simple circle - with red crayon drawn OUTSIDE the lines? ;)

I guess I lean to the abstract with logos. ;)

Did anyone else's babies/small toddlers have "night terrors"? Ours used to wake up sometimes absolutely wide-eyed but otherwise obviously not with us, not awake, screaming bloody murder, and nothing we did seemed to help - in fact if I tried to hold him when he was freaking out, he would freak even ...

Exactly, LIBERATION

I'm trying to imagine what the logo would look like for the "NEURO-ATYPICAL LIBERATION FRONT." ;)

I LOVE AND ADORE Jon Stewart, but Colbert's schtick is finally wearing a bit thin on me. I know it's just a stage persona, but still.

I don't know what to say beyond I often feel this way, totally inept. For me, "making friends" is exactly as anxiety-producing as dating, just without the potential for sex. Will she call? Won't she? Why didn't she? And so often, either I like someone but they don't seem to reciprocate, or someone l...

TOTALLY there with you! I'm the same way. Being female, I want to scream every time someone insists I smile more! Why would I go around grinning like an idiot all the time? I'm not miserable (not always, haha), but I am very thoughtful (perhaps "too much" so, I guess) and there is usually SOMETHING ...

I feel like I should step in here, because I was the one who pointed you toward this community in the first place, and I sense you may be feeling not very "supported" just now, around this situation. I've been here a little longer than you, and I've run across some members who seemed...how can I put...

Husband and I will never forget how, from almost the moment he could walk, our son started spinning. As fast as he could, for fun. And throwing himself into walls or onto the furniture (couch, bed) or the floor or ground. He thought that was the most fun thing EVER. He was like a human pinball - goi...

Our son's first word (besides mama and dada) was "fuf" - we learned this meant "flower" but actually referred to all plant life, from grass to trees. :)

We were delighted by this. :D
