I don't know what to do. I'm slow and make too many mistakes to be good for anything. Do any of you have jobs and if so, what are they and how long have you had them? I have many options for a career now but don't know what I'm really capable of. I don't have a full-time job, and I find a lot of th...

Sorry if this was already a post that I didn't see, but I saw quite a few mentions here and there of people on here who are asexual. I'm curious: how many of you identify as asexual? When did you first realize you were, or identify yourself as, asexual? Is asexuality more common in AS than in the g...

Have I ever. One girl I worked with said I was intimidating her and got me kicked off a project. I think I'm sort of a blank slate that people can project their feelings onto. Most of the time that works well for me, most people grossly overestimate my normalcy. Sometimes, my lack of expression and...

I enjoy it too, it's really satisfying when you make a nice weld! I do mostly MIG welding, mostly in the theatre industry where I don't require a ticket (yet)! I think it's also a great skill to learn; an experienced welder once told me "they keep trying to make robot welders, but they will never re...

Only 80%?? It's called "projection"--when other people accuse you of being mean, rude, ret*d, etc., they are just trying to feel better about themselves.

Reid and Garcia definately have aspie traits, or at least 'positive' aspie traits; I've yet to see either have a real meltdown, or do any stimming, etc. But I agree, it's a great combination of characters, and I love that they use inspiration from real-life cases. (I often wish I was there with Reid...

I've only watched a little as well, but it seems like a fantasy written by male nerds (not aspies), for other male nerds... (smart females are rare (4-5:1... hmm, sound familiar?), and of course they all have to be "hot babes", as the guy above this post puts it.) Plus the guys who say I should watc...

The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Leguin -- One of my favorite books, it takes place on a planet where the humanoid inhabitants change their gender in monthly cycles and therefore everyone is judged as an individual since there are no gender 'roles'. The narrator is a human character who strugg...

I have a therapist at my local child and family clinic who was worried about my constant need for perfection and my anxiety levels. She said that there is a real possibility of another disorder and that she would book me an appointment with a psych (she isn't qualified to diagnose herself) but noth...

^^^ I can't help you much as I don't have any diagnosis myself. But if you're still in your teens, you're still developing, and wouldn't likely qualify for BPD--or any other personality disorder--if these are even still being diagnosed. It sounds like you're trying really hard to find all the answer...

I see the difference between the 2 types of obsession, but I've always had both. Although I'm a lot more 'OCD' in dark, scary times of my life--but apparently "many nervous people have rituals they do to calm themselves". (quote from an intake worker)
