Thanks for the advice everyone:)) Sorry for the late reply, my computer is being repaired so I don't have a lot of computer access. A lot of what you said was echoed by my sister when I asked her whether I'd be too old to keep on studying after I hit 26 or so. And I think you're right about getting ...

Another tip is to do some work at the library. Or spend any hours in between classes (or if the first class of the day starts late, get in early (e.g. 8-9am)) at the library. Bring homework for one or two subjects with you and try to do as much as a you can in that time. I find working at the librar...

I've just started to teach myself. My strategy is to follow 'Khatuzomoto's' advice over at http://www.alljapaneseallthetime.com/blog/about . A lot of it rings true to me, though I'm not sure I'll take it as far as he has at the moment (I'm still mentally preparing). - I've downloaded a lot of podcas...

I started last week, so far I've understood very little of what's been taught in lectures and very little of what's written in the books we're supposed to read:\ I haven't made any friends yet, some people have approached me but I quickly forget their faces. The only way I was able to recognize this...

Before I start, I know I still have yearrrrs to think about this, but I'm worrying about it now so I want to figure things out :P I've had some rough years in highschool , and so it took a bit longer to graduate than most other people ( a delay of 2 years ). After highschool I made a huge mistake , ...

I tried to be more relaxed about stuff and to 'let go' of things and to not worry all the time.

Big mistake.
Everything went wrong after that. And everything still goes wrong whenever I try to approach something in an easygoing/care free manner.

Thank you so much for your input! I'm usually able to have semi-normal conversations with friends too, though there's always a slight feeling of 'akwardness'. Most of my highschool friends have ditched me since I got behind a grade and some I chose to stop seeing as they were merely using me (it too...

I might as well give it a shot, as right now I'm feeling quite miserable. I haven't been truly happy for at least 7 years. And it's NOT depression that's making me this way. A change in attitude or lifestyle isn't always bad, right? It make me feel completely useless, knowing that I too could go out...

True:\
Which is why I mostly use it when talking to professors at uni/people I'll only meet once in my liftime.

I'm guessing my peers/non friends would look at me in a really weird way if I talked to them like that.

Yup, as the title suggests, I want to change >_< I'm really tired of what I have become over the years. I'm stuck in an eternal 'woe-is-me' phase. Here's why: 1. I don't have 'a life'. I have no friends. Don't go out, don't participate in a sport etc. 2. My social skills are horrible. I'm a master a...

I don't always understand people as a lot of the words get blocked out (especially in noisier places or when the conversation is long/abstract) but usually when I try to talk, my words come out really weird. Like my brain decided to chop up the sentences coming out of my mouth and put them in a rand...

I mostly have this with perfumes (i kinda like the smell of cleaning detergent:P). I really WISH I could like perfume, but I don't:\ I could never wear any 'cause the smell really starts to bother me fairly quickly. I especially hate walking behind someone who reeks of perfume, or when someone walks...

same here:\ I think it's mostly fear of not being able to do what I'm supposed to do. E.g. I have to summarize 2 chapters of this really daunting book (it takes me 30 minutes just to read - not understand- 10 pages). And there's going to be a grade attached to it, 1/10th of my final grade. I'm reall...

"Well technically , it's not a laptop, it's a netbook.." It sounds like something I would have said. Same here. Ah! Thanks so much. I will definitely check them out (once I have money again:P).

I guess I was just using the wrong keywords to find the right books.
