I'm just catching up on the show now, and I like the interpretation. I like characters like Abed from Community, who show a fully functioning aspie at work and in social situations, but I also like characters like this, who show how difficult it can be for some aspies to be like that. I definitely r... |

I think it's accurate as far as the character goes, but I think other movies like Adam are far more detailed. Like, I wouldn't recommend this for someone to understand what Asperger's is, but at the same time, I do think this character is a realistic aspie character. I don't think the movie was as g... |

I don't like it when anyone goes around saying they have it just because of a few minor tendencies. I don't think Owl City is diagnosed. I think it's self-diagnosed, and he just seems way too socially competent in interviews and stuff. If he has it, it's either very mild, or he had worked tremendou... |

Sorry if my question is offensive, but as a NT who is interested in autism, I am a little puzzled. At first, I thought people with autism didn't know they have problems in communication. But as I log on this forum, I found out that: wow, these are supersuper normal, rational and logistic people! So... |

This is probably going to turn into another one of those threads that ends up naming just about every TV character who has ever been in existence, but whatever: Arthur (King of Queens)- generally annoying, turns a lot of people off, unintentionally rude, involves people in conversations they don't c... |

I think AS in general has been extremely trivialized by the media and society. People don't know what a serious disorder it is. I can see that concern, yes, and the danger of it being "the trendy thing to have." However, I'm not so sure that most people don't know what a serious disorder it is, or ... |

It seems like he has some consistencies with it. None of us know enough about him to say either way. There has to be some reason why a good looking kid was never able to get a date for 22 years. I don't know if NPD is enough to explain it. I think there must have been some sort of unusual social def... |

I wonder if it's just because of the way we act, people perceive us as being younger, and maybe that gets confused with the way we look. |

I'm sure you're going to get a lot of people who disagree, but I totally relate. It has caused some serious trauma, anxiety, and depression. I don't want to use those terms lightly, and I've never been diagnosed with those things, but it certainly feels like it. It's almost driven me to suicide so m... |
