I'm intrigued by tattoos but I don't think I would ever get one. I don't like calling attention to myself and even the clothes I wear are very plain, and I don't wear jewelry or makeup, so I think it would be quite out of character for me. I've seen some really nice ones but most of the time I don't...

I have a hard enough time saying hi to people I know. It's fairly regular that I have an impulse to talk to a stranger, but I never do. I get too anxious and worry about being too awkward. I tell myself it's not the right circumstances for some reason, or that I will, as soon as they walk over here...

She said to choose people over 50. Is this because you're over 50 and they're your age group, or because people over 50 might be more receptive to friendly chit chat? I think she believes that older people are more relaxed and more receptive, whereas younger people are more impatient and have thing...

Stress and anxiety can make everything more difficult. It seems like you are trying to do two things at once: deal with your anxiety and figure out what job to look for. I don't know if your financial situation makes the job-seeking urgent, but if you can, can you take the time and effort to work on...

I agree with funeralxempire and I also understand how you feel. I would be horrified if I had to interview someone and I would also resent the assumption that I just have people at my disposal that I can ask to be an interviewee, and the assumption that it's no big deal to interview someone. I think...

My therapist recommended recently that I try to make small talk with strangers, like people waiting in line with me, or the cashier and so on. She said to choose people over 50, because they are more likely to be receptive. Also I live in Texas where people tend to be friendly. The idea is that beca...

My impression from that was that he was talking about people in the abstract and from a religious POV - not from a first person, personal perspective. It's the things that the person is saying that are dissociative, in that they require parting with reality in order to hold those beliefs. And the b...

^That was very disturbing. Have you been diagnosed with a dissociative mental illness? What evidence of dissociative mental illness is there in the users post you are referring to? All of it but in particular this entire paragraph and especially the highlighted phrases: Marriage is a sacrament and ...

I don't think it exists anymore, but if your taxes were simple you could use form EZ to file your IRS taxes in the US. So EZ is an official government term! :)

^ Well, attention defecit doesn't mix well with an activity that demands a lot of attention to subject matter designed and governed by other people. In my case, listening to the few preachers I heard and reading scripture didn't ultimately move my perspective their way at all. It was mostly a load ...

^ If someone lives in a different place and has a different experience than you do, does that mean that they live in a “happy fantasy world?” It seems more like they are describing the reality of where they live. I'm referring to the to-me-only-dreamed-of happy world in which all or most parents ge...

I have nearly 25 years experience in family court. I can say that at least where I was living, physical custody is 50-50 so that child support won't be payable and the child won't become a financial pawn. This is arranged by a mediator so that litigation is less necessary. Beyond that, if cooperati...

and family court judges are biased to the mother is custody cases, even though there are probably exceptions. And this has been disproven; in almost 100% of custody cases, courts will give custody to whichever parent filed their paperwork. (Take a wild guess which parent that responsibility usually...
