Ok with a 1:1 support worker and a 1:1 trainer I have been going to the gym (obviously with earplugs and sunglasses, otherwise I'd be ripping up the place). It was seriously hard at the beginning, having meltdowns in the changing rooms and being too freaked out to focus on the exercise or communica...

I cannot leave the house alone due to a visual impairment and severe challenging behaviour. I used to stay at home for days and days until my alcoholic mum could take me out. Now I have support workers which is great.

Intramuscular lorazepam and haloperidol was given to me against my will many times on the secure unit. But the most recent time I was inpatient there and had a severe meltdown, they gave me intramuscular olanzapine, which calmed me down, eventually, and then made me sleep for 6 hours straight, and ...

Thanks. I have a non NHS psychologist who is willing to work with me regarding the behaviours, but not until September. In the meantime I have a support worker who is working with me to reduce meltdowns in public using techniques. Obviously it's work in progress. I find exercise helpful and I alway...

PRN haloperidol comes to mind (I use that) OR regular risperidone (not the two together generally as they're both potent, and fairly pure D2 blockers). Maybe an antidepressant, I'd say of the SSRI class as TCAs have more troublesome side-effects (although I take clomipramine for my OCD). If not an ...

I don't think having any form of autism would necessarily make you like this for life. The teenage/adult LFA I know don't engage in the behaviors you described. Your reports of these behaviors are very extreme. Did you ever get checked for brain lesions like damage to frontal cortex or subcortical ...

I am interested to read how others experience challenging behaviour as I need to feel like I am not the only one. I am very violent and loud during meltdowns. Mild meltdowns for me are pacing, shouting swear words, throwing things and biting my hands. Moderate meltdowns for me are screaming, hittin...

Yeah. I'm so glad they are exploring brain chemistry and coming up with these new medications. I would like to experience normal even for just a little while before I die. It is good. I am looking at the new antipsychotics as I'm already on an antidepressant for my OCD but it doesn't help with anyt...

Why are there specific categories only for Asperger's Syndrome in the options in the profile section, but all other autism spectrum diagnoses lumped under 'other autism spectrum disorder'? I am diagnosed classic autistic and I had to choose the 'other autism spectrum disorder' option, which seems i...

I was called 'lividly psychotic' by a police officer while I was being sectioned for an extreme meltdown. Although in my case I have had psychosis before, but at that particular time my psychosis was barely detectable and I actually now consider myself in remission. I have been called a 'psycho' or...

I was forced into a nightclub by my abusive mother. I was arrested within an hour (after being restrained by security staff for ages) under section 136 of the Mental Health Act. It wasn't a criminal arrest, it was an arrest to take me to a psychiatric hospital to be assessed, because they thought I...

I took Prozac for years and it didn't do me much good, like a band-aid for a break.

Fluoxetine (Prozac) was like a sugar pill for me. No side-effects but no positive effects either. Even at 40mg/day.
