I believe I'm an ordinary nerd with something along the lines of speech-delayed autism (Which means I'm not nearly as eloquent as all of you with ordinary AS, shame on me.) and I've personally had troubles getting past the "front lines" that is HR during the hiring process, all presumably due to my...

Question: When a friend or co-worker comes to you and begins complaining of something that went wrong for them, what is your usual reaction to them?..... I either tease them with a "sux to be you" sort of thing or I will listen and offer advice like you used to do. The interesting part of this is t...

I do not agree that an autism clinic will be the most helpful. What tends to be the most helpful is finding a good therapist/counseller who can help you and connect with you. It may take a few tries before you find one that you mesh with but why not try it since it is available through work?

Oh yeah, I borrowed Temple Grandin's book "Emergence Labeled Autism". I'm currently upto her fifth year and while my speech development seems somewhat similar to hers, I wasn't anywhere near as bratty as she was (Flinging poop everywhere, what the hell?). But, she doesn't actually have "aspergers",...

I have been in high tech for more than 20 years and worked side-by-side with thousands of socially ret*d/awkward nerds. Not a ONE of them has ever spoken about ASD to me. Not one. You think an ordinary nerd with AS has a good chance of making it past HR during the hiring process? You're funny. (Not...

I am getting very tired of all the stereotyping that you do to try to "fit" into the spectrum. It really is insulting and your questions are stupid like beyond your IQ stupid. You ask crap like, "If I do this, do all Aspies do this?" You act like you cannot understand the concept of a spectrum. You...

I think I've always understood the reasoning behind why people say "I'm sorry" but it is completely wasted on me. Am I actually supposed to have an emotional reaction to people saying "I'm sorry", as in is it really meant to make me feel better? I want understanding from people but sympathy doesn't...

The good Doctor decided that part of my education should be watching this 1.5 minute video on human interaction. He described the video to me so that I could be prepared to see it. The scenario is set up by a PhD at Harvard University. He used a Mommy and a baby. In the first part of the video the M...

Keeping it simple. I break this up into parts. My doggy biscuit reward is a good meal. You make me steak and I will 'shake hands' like a dog  Be yourself and some gruffness may exude, 'the countenance' may show boredom, but this is the you. I don't pretend. ^^^THIS^^^ I have been trying to be ...

This. I've found WrongPlanet to be surprisingly low drama in comparison to other forums I've been on. At least here people seem to be able to distinguish between a discussion and a direct insult. This x 1000%. SWBluto's posts are often suspiciously troll-like many times does not equate to Autsitic ...

Cool status this week.... First the non-session stuff. I have been having some back and forth with Michelle Winner. She is the person who creates all the content that my PsyD uses to teach me. I have expressed my concern about her material not really working with me and have communicated to her that...

Welcome to college where you pay upwards of 50K a year to learn outdated and wrong stuff.

Meh....

Unfortunately true.

Thank you Ha and Vash for you feedback. I shall continue to blog. Something useful may come from all of this after all. :D :D Lots to catch up on since last post. Let's see..... On the book front, I signed a contract with Future Horizons to be included in Temple Grandin's next book. I am waiting for...
