No, that's not selfish. If anything, you should probably have more regard for yourself. Consider your interests & goals. Try to stay positive and don't let the bad attitudes of others determine how you live your life. If the place you were working hasn't told you that you've been let go, it's pr...

It makes perfect sense why the term should be discontinued. However, there still seems to be value in distinguishing between needs, which (I think) was the original purpose of the term. Without useful alternative terminology, it could be hard or impossible to wean people off the old.

I wonder if anyone has ever attempted to explain why it's so much easier to look at non-human eyes. At least for me it is. :cat:

The thing about discoveries is eventually someone will come along and find it (especially something like "aspergers"). Often things are even independently discovered simultaneously. Personally I wouldn't have minded if the discoverer had a cooler-sounding last name. Both "Winter"...

Some stores I don't like with music in them... I don't go in as the problem I get is apart from the noise I am very concious about looking odd and my walk tries to walk the same time as the music beat, and then I try to break this by walking on purpose to avoid walking to the beat and my walk then ...

To answer the poll question, I was around mid-teens when I got a diagnosis of aspergers & depression with a side of anxiety. They didn't really tell me why I was being evaluated, but I don't think anyone in my family had ever heard of aspergers before then. They didn't really seem to accept it ...

I was about three years old. I had no speech. I seemed oblivious to the world. It was quite evident that there was something VERY wrong with me at that time. One only got diagnosed with autism in the 1960s if there was something "very wrong" with them. The strange thing is that even today...

Anyway this particular retreat seems to be doing its job properly :) That's good to hear. Is there a place you can leave them a nice review and talk about what they did right? I think that could help bring them more business and maybe get other retreats to take notice (and make some positive change...

On the social side... Personally, I don't want to say "I have x" if it wasn't diagnosed. For me, I think it's fine to say "I have indications typical of x", "x likely" or similar if I seem to be checking the boxes through self-assessment. Just my philosophy & situat...

What if you told people your diet needs are "medically necessary"? I think they ought to respect your request anyway, but that phrase usually seems to be taken more seriously. For the lighting situations, do sunglasses do an acceptable job for you? Sorry to say, but usually it's majority r...

I've heard that some restaurants play loud, uptempo music to influence customers to eat/leave faster so there's more turnover. That way the restaurant is never completely full and they can sell more food to more people ($$). I never thought I could ask to have it turned down. Take away/carry out or ...

Sometimes I even save it to a text file if it's going to be a long post. It's pretty easy to accidentally wipe the clipboard and lose your "Ctrl+C" contents too... at least for me. Other times I get lucky and can hit the browser "back" button and get all the text back from before...

Is interesting, as with me, I find anyone who does not share my special interests as being odd... (Well, not odd but I am intregued how they can go through life without wanting to enjoy the same interests that I do if that makes sense). For example. There are two types of people in this world. Thos...

I've heard both names but don't know either, what does that make me???

It makes you a lower risk for NT syndrome.
