Ive noticed that more than any other condition people seem to strive to obtain an AS diagnosis. Ive noticed this in myself too. I feel like theres a profound sense of validation attached to the condition its as if it would take all the traits that we associate with shame and rejection and turn them...

I'm just wondering, if someone does try this 'diet' and becomes ill because of it, does that mean they get to take goldfish to court? can he be sued for malpractice even though he is not an actual practitioner? Sorry if I screwed up the quotes. I am not a lawyer but I seriously doubt there would be...

 Call it whatever you want. it's not going to harm my health or happiness any if you (directed at everyone) aren't interested in reducing/eliminating symptoms that are hindering your lives. Because we do not wish to follow your diet means we are not interested in reducing our symptoms????. How...

Recently I posted at study by Simon Baron-Cohen suggesting a synesthesia and Autism link or connection. It was pointed out this has been discussed by the autism community for at least 10 years. It has taken a long time for other topics such as females presenting differently or even having autism to ...

Ja. I kinda improved as I got older as well, especially starting at age 14. As I understand it, under the DSM-5, you are autistic for life and you never outgrow; it's just that the symptoms may be "masked" by learned strategies later in life. That is how it was explained to me by a specialist with ...

65 Thought I would be higher because certain questions such as "Even when I am in a group of friends, I often feel very alone and uneasy" "I easily become wrapped up in my own interests and forget the existence of others." "I feel that I am temperamentally different from most people." "When I enter ...

I started to think up a list then I realized for the most part the positives and negatives were based on how other people reacted to my autism and had nothing to do with autism itself. These below had little or nothing to do with others. Positives Ability to really appreciate a subject Nagatives It ...

I'm kinda glad for that because of all the snickering and teasing that came around the word "aspergers". Heck, South Park made an episode making fun of the word. People tend to take you more seriously when you say "high functioning autistic" rather than "aspergers". That is creating definitions at ...

It is one study that is interesting and is suggestive of a possible future change in the consensus. Right now the professional consensus is that Aspergers is a part of the autism spectrum.

We re being asked to be guinea pigs. It is a very rational choice to let others be the guinea pigs. I'm not asking you to be guinea pigs and test out some new bathtub concocted pharmaceutical that I've never even tried myself. I'm suggesting that you try something that I've already tried on myself ...

I don't know them as well as you do so it is hard to say. Just because they come from that generation does not necessarily mean they feel that way. Also the elderly have various maladies, maybe they were not feeling well that day.

Your Grandparents come from an era where "personal issues" especially "mental issues" were something expected to remain behind closed doors and never to be discussed. If it were to become public it would bring shame to the family.

(PS: I am writing this from the perspecive of someone who was diagnosed in their fifties, and only first suspected that they might have AS less than 2 years earlier.) What I have noticed is that the people who post the I hate it and will do whatever it takes to fit in no matter what the cost tend t...

After earlier being very critical of Goldfish I have stayed away from posting further as I do not have much nutritional knowledge to make any kind of comment about the diet itself. Yes he did say it was a rough draft so attacking him for the presentation looking like a rough draft is unfair. The cho...
