I was thinking rather more generally about misogynistic harassment and the way it is used vis a vis prominent women. I agree with you that GT won't be silenced by this vile image. Women of all ages in political life generally are prime targets for sexualised misogynistic attacks and most of the atta...

Here's an example for you to ponder then, from another thread. Calling another member "a blasphemer" because they don't share a religious view is not what WP is about. Quoted post from another thread in PPR: "You're the blasphemer, not I. Blessed be the Great Mother of God, Mary Most ...

I've made the points clearly enough I think about why proselytising is not a good idea here, and was responding particularly to Aunt Blabby's idea of it being acceptable here.

That seems to be the goal of the ilk of 8chan and its spin offs yes, troll bullies who hide behind anonymity. The goal of the troll armies is to cause harm to others for their own sadistic amusement and the more harm the happier those sickos are.

None of us know which members have been abused in religious organisations, though there will be some here. And some will have very longstanding scars from abuse in Catholic settings, unfortunately. Prosetylising has the added danger of severely triggering them. I for one do not want them exposed to ...

isn't PP&R the more proper place for proselytizing? and the last time the LDS [for some reason they hate being called "mormon" now  ] knocked on my door, i hid behind a couch. ;) [i was little] Perhaps we understand the meaning of prosetylising differently. The common meaning...

The internet is a wonderful invention in many ways, but the way it is used to try and intimidate targets (like this so-called "cartoon") are unspeakably vile, malicious and cowardly. These attacks aren't "jokes", they are something much darker than that.

BlueThunder, you don't come across as a person who would "bug anyone" in your posts here; so maybe try a call or two. I know that takes a lot of emotional energy when you are feeling so isolated. Perhaps especially if you are one of the many AS people for whom phones are not our favourite ...

I understand the loneliness that feels as if it lives inside you, body, heart and soul. It can become so intense over time that even the idea of making connections can become terrifying. Prolonged isolation can play tricks on our minds. I think many of us here have possibly experienced that. Last ye...

No, that's not the case: I haven't had any bad religious experiences apart from the annoying door knocking of proseltylisers from the Mormon church. I couldn't call them bad religious experiences, just nuisances. My experience though limited has been positive - I have a close friend, a Dominican who...

Hmmm - the problem is that you don't know what any post is going to be about until you have read it. After initial encounters, yes you can try to avoid further exposures, though moderators can't always do this either. Basically I don't think WP is a place for proselytising. Discussion of the bigger ...

Posts from obsessed members of religious sects about their beliefs was something I never anticipated as a newcomer to Wrong Planet. Fortunately the exposures have been relatively few but they still seem out of place to me. I can understand that people enjoy discussing social and cultural and politic...

Finding your niche and flourishing in it is perhaps the fundamental prerequisite to the fulfilled AS life. I think it is very difficult, though not impossible, to do this, for a variety of reasons. Sometimes I watch the ITV program "The Chase", and reflect on the careers of the two best ch...

The cultural message is misogyny used in an attempt to silence and intimidate such targets.

I used to believe something like that long ago, (to my great cost) and some probably are. However most seem more likely to be motivated by the dark triad of manipulative and hostile traits that are more abundant as social cohesion is ripped apart more and more.
