You're doing it wrong. Unfamiliarity with the dialect. Close but no cigar. ;-)

"In't th'owden days...".

Is it just me, or is the grass greener up north? We don't have hot water or enamel baths. Still on tin baths. Wish me luck fitting into it. ;-) Make sure to put some more coal on the fire before you get into bath water that 2 people have already bathed in  Only two, they're posh your way Ferri...

on gridlocked motorways.Still light snow at the moment but high winds making for blizzard conditions.

The whole of the UK has been hit with snow today but in Scotland we've also got a first-ever 'Red' warning for people not to venture outdoors at all until the warning is lifted. Although it's definitely extreme weather, there didn't seem to be any attempts by the authorities to grit the roads - much ...

On another forum I raised the point about what would really have been meant by "well regulated militia".Not only did gun supporters say that it definitely referred to all individuals, but one person said that 'well regulated' means 'well equipped'. As long as there are people with no qualms...

Although Britain doesn't have so many direct legacies from the Roman Empire, the indirect legacies and existence of Roman historical sites are significant, even in Scotland which was only temporarily part of the empire for a relatively short time.Scots law has a basis in Roman law and there are remain...

Sorry to hear that.I just watched him recently in a Columbo episode where he skillfully played a double part as twins.
I'd seen it umpteen times but he made it watchable again.

It's far from certain that Conservative MPs will endorse this blatantly opportunistic move by May. The Government is supposed to be entirely neutral in matters of Northern Ireland's constitution and to form a coalition with the unionists is contrary to this. The DUP also have some extreme views - ant...

My guess is that Trump secretly wouldn't mind losing narrowly. That way he can go on claiming the vote was 'rigged' and still have a high profile whipping up anti-establishment feeling. If he actually wins ? Well then he'll have enormous responsibility as probably the most important person in the wor...

It's funny how we tend to think of countries as being stable but even recent history shows they aren't.In my lifetime the following countries have broken up or merged :
Germany
Czechoslovakia
Yugoslavia
Cyprus
USSR
Pakistan
Ethiopia
Sudan
China (acquired Hong Kong)
