Calling you a freak is not acceptable and I am sorry they treat you like that. However, they are not likely to change their minds about you. It sounds like the best thing to do is probably staying away from them because they the situation is going to be toxic.

Just so you know, I am American and I love eating tofu raw. However, I am not a sold health nut but I would like to be more of one. As for the cucumber soup, I fell in love with chilled soups when I went on a few cruises. Therefore, I decided to make it myself and loved it. As for my co-workers not ...

Many years ago, I worked for a warehouse as part of an "Employment program," which was run by toxic people. They lacked training in working with disabled individuals. One time, I brought a terrible salad to work. The CEO's autistic son, who happened to be there, blurted out "I don't l...

Hi:
First of all, your words have power. The more that you tell yourself that you are unemployable, the more you are going to believe that.

Last night, I sat down and watched the documentary series "Quiet on Set." I will tell you that I am shocked that this happened during the golden age of Nickelodeon. Every Saturday and Sunday I would watch the news and reruns of "All That with My Sister." I was obsessed with Amand...

I have lied to people who are incredibly controlling to avoid them becoming hateful with me. The main reason for that is because people tend to get nasty with me. I think it has something to do with the fact that I appear to be normal. Then when I don't meet their expectations, they turn nasty. This...

When it comes to being confident, you don't want to be pretentious about it. Rather, find strategies and exercises where you learn to like yourself. For instance, learning to befriend your reflection and your shadow and starting to be kind to them. In the meantime, maybe go do some activities with t...

My aunt thought that he could have been involved in human trafficking.

However, I think he just wanted a one night stand and did not get that from me.

He lied to me because he most likely wanted to impress me. Anyway, when we first departed that evening, I said yes to us being friends. Then when I woke up the next morning, I decided that I didn't want to see him again. He tried to call me a few weeks later but I didn't answer the phone at all. Aft...

I have people assume that I am clueless.

For instance, I had a friend's parent constantly let me know what something was for someone else.

Another time, someone told me not to bring food into the auditorium when I already knew that.

I have had to tell them, "I get it, I am not dumb."

Back in high school, I had a case manager who was an autism specialist who did not like me. The main reason was that I was very outspoken. However, she wasn't a very nice person to begin with who lacked empathy. Examples: 1. If I would start laughing, she would send me to sit in the quiet room 2. Sh...

I have had several people accuse me of being a lesbian because I wear short hair.

Other assumptions:

People have assumed that I have limited interests just because I am autistic

I have had people assume that I can't afford certain things.
