How often do you...? The answers are, rarely, seldom, often, frequently. I have no idea what those mean within the context of these questions. Is rarely once a month? Once a week? Once a day? Once an hour? This is actually clinically useful. If share this experience with the doc, it will sharpen th...

My last trip to the doctor he has me fill out a self-assessment for ADD. ADD is a clinical diagnosis; questionnaires are only aids so wouldn't sweat it too much. A good clinician can spot ADD in exam very easily. One way to look at it: all diagnoses are provisional - until confirmed by benefit resu...

Spot on. Every word. In fact, you helped me to come up with an example that I probably don't need any longer, but what the heck... The neural pathways in my head crisscross like a road map. When I try to map my way to a solution, I follow the neural pathways that seem natural to me - just like I dr...

See original post: An 'Autism Alert Card' would likely only be used for medical emergencies. Kinda what I thought and it sounds reasonable. - Except I worry the cops will shoot me as I reach for my wallet to explain. - Except I worry the judge will assume it means I am a card-carrying cold-blooded ...

General knowledge is knowledge useful across many disciplines.

So knowing how numbers work is general knowledge.
It is useful in mathematics, medicine, business, physics - and their sub-disciplines.

Don't know that it is specific to spectrum.

Never heard of such a card.
- Curious; what might be the practical/intended application of this.

As far as alert, caffeine works for me

Like how am I supposed to grieve for someone I wasn't close to? Well that's just it, we kinda can't. Seems folks on the spectrum really value being genuine. Being expected to perform in some way other than we actually feel, feels fake. Like being an involuntary actor. I suspect if there is genuine ...

Don't know about love. But having faced much requiring courage - voluntarily risking even life - I do respect myself. For me this is enough. And if I were into comparison with my fellows: I am indeed well-educated, in a respected profession, and so well-off. Having started very low, the privilege I ...

Made friends with all the wild animals in the forest here, they're no longer afraid of me.
Birds will return, nest in the feeders when ill.
Sometimes they make it; sometimes not.

Their lives are harsh.

Not that it matters much from day to day. Psychological toughness have ye - but even armored with that, it does matter. Surrounded on all sides as is the case, it is not far from a nightmare scenario as confronted Winston in Orwell's 1984. Have been there so know of what ye speak, bro. You are livi...
