As Pride was already scheduled for June 14th in Spokane, the No Kings demonstrators ended up joining the parade. Despite Spokane's conservative self image, the whole thing got loads of cheers and support, which truly warmed my heart. These jumpers deserve no sympathy. Shouldn't have come illegally ... |

You don't have to be African American to appreciate liberty from slavery. Juneteenth should remind us all that the promise of America is for everyone. |

I've been a Star Wars fan since 1977. Good or bad, I'll see it. My family and I are in the minority because we did enjoy The Star Wars Sequel Trilogy , Rogue One and Solo: A Star Wars Story , Ron Howard did a great job directing Solo . tier 1 = Clone wars, bad batch, tales of the Jedi and Rebels (9... |

My father passed the day after I turned 12 back in 2002, so the family and I visited his grave. Had he managed to get through his treatments without any problems, he would be 66 this year. He loved reading & watching Westerns and his favorite Western actor was Clint Eastwood. I lost my dad as a... |

Trainspotting.
Scottish heroin addict, Renton, has to go through the horrors of withdraw, then realizes he has to rid himself of his "so called mates" who rope him into a drug sale. Always a great movie to see. |

12 Hour Shift.
Take a drug addict nurse supplying organs to her airheaded cousin-by-marriage for violent criminals, then add a situation where said organs (a kidney in this case) gets lost, and you have a wonderfully gruesome horror comedy. Great movie that deserves much more attention than it got. |

I just finished a creative writing class at a community college. One challenge: I'm 66, and most of my classmates were fresh out of high school. So, they had read books that had been carefully curated for them, so as not to offend parents. None of them had been exposed to books like Portnoy's Compl... |
