Oxygen is created by the trees, and they are cutting all these trees down to reduce our ability to be aware. aware of what? This is how god works through all of us. When you eat food you shouldn't talk much but just realize how grateful you are for the food because it's full of life and consciousne...

A very simple question has entered my mind recently, but I believe it has profound repercussions: If we can agree the universe is ultimately exothermic in nature (moving towards a heat death), do we then have the right or ability to change (or as liberals like to say "reinterpret") the second law o...

Maybe. Earth is a deceptively comfortable place; most of the universe is too hellish for life to thrive. But I can imagine replicator molecules forming on many planets, and from that, life, of some form.

Never take grad-level science and engineering coursework, then. Pretty much everything we deal with involves PDQs that can only be solved by numerical methods (which I actually enjoy thoroughly). One of the reasons I'm studying Genetics, and learning a bit of Computer Science; I'm much more fond of...

If there is a "free will", it chooses to manifest itself in a way which is is experimentally indistinguishable from deterministic interacts in the brain. Occam's razor would have us drop the useless postulate instantly. Deterministic is DOA. Quantum Physics is right and classical physics is wrong. ...

Best time; Now, I guess.

there is no such thing as a universe without an atomic weak force. It is also not possible for there to be a possible world where there are different principles of logic (believe me it would be much easier for me if there was). That seems like that is something completely impossible for us to deter...

Free will cannot logically exist. Every choice you make is simply the result of electrical signals in your brain. You make choices based on influences on your brain. Your brain calculates a response based on these influences in exactly the same way a computer does. Think - How could you program a c...

You are prejudiced in favor of classical theories. As far as I am concerned, ANY theory that predicts correctly and has not yet been empirically falsified is a winner. Nature is not obliged to present herself in such a way that man-scale concepts are the truth. Man-scale is a contingent way of unde...

Try explaining how transistors work without quantum physics. Classical physics is a total failure at describing the atom and sub atomic realm and it cannot explain tunneling either. ruveyn Which is why I included "exquisitely precise in calculations". ;) I just have a personal aesthetic dislike of ...
