Great...It's Adam Lanza all over again (just found out the news). I sincerely hope that this scumbag was misdiagnosed I don't think he was. I have a feeling he really was on the spectrum, but you're right that he doesn't represent how aspies think and behave. The damage is done, though. His own par...

Whilst there's some outliers (such as me and my ability to get the chicks), most of those with AS will be beyond hopeless to make friends and relations. And it's understandable how it leads to someone becoming a group unto themselves and they blame an entire group for their medically caused failure...

I don't keep abreast of the US news/politics to that much detail. Has the possibility of 'arresting everyone on the spectrum' been at all floated by anyone who could be taken seriously? Because this strikes me as pretty paranoid. That's ridiculous. Life will go on, aspies will be aspies, NTs will b...

Sorry for the late reply. I've been in groups on and off over the years, and you get a lot of flakes and difficult types when you get into table top gaming. I don't know how things are for you since you posted this, but I hope you either were able to resolve the negativity, or bowed out altogether. ...

Most people who play video games are 30+

Under 18s only make up a tiny percentage.

I'm not going to verify that, as you might be right, but that doesn't sound right at all. A LOT of the gaming population is made of the under age crowd.

This generation grew up with video games, and the previous one probably only saw kids playing them, so they associate that hobby with being a kid. Not the same anymore.

You've completely missed my point! Boys are likely to be thought odd for not initiating interactions, but girls aren't . That's completely your perception, I've never heard or thought that. I always thought that boys could get away with being aloof and distant than girls because it's more expected ...

But rules are part of the game. If it's only role playing, why are books involved? And yes, poor rules can have an impact on the experience.

The biggest problem with bullying is not the bully himself. I can deal with a bully. The biggest problem is the passive support from "third parties" . I had a "friend" who tended to bully me, but he would do so only in a situation where he would be backed up by other "friends" who happened to be cl...

I also think John was a perfect dad for Jack. I would love to hang out with the whole mess of them for a day. All 3 of these guys: Alex, John, and Jack intrigue me. As a matter of fact the three of them would make a great beginning to a proper advocacy group to replace Autism Speaks, and I would gl...

It depends on what types of symptoms you have, and how impairing they are. I think over time the diagnoses will be broken down into sub categories. Some are far worse than others.

I know what you mean, OP. That happens to me not only in my neighborhood but also wherever I go regularly (shops, cafes, work etc).

This happens to me too! At my gym I noticed it a lot, especially with women. Then, others are totally fine with me. It's heartbreaking and baffling.
