I remember hearing that song exactly once on the radio circa 1969 when I was circa 14. Coincendently it may have been on the car radio on a cross country road trip we made that year(so we were wanderin' ourselves at the time). Never heard it again. A guy with a rugged country type voice. Must have b...

If that's your worst crime: miss pronouncing the name of an obscure Greek goddess whom almost no one in the last 2000 years (save Mr. Bullfinch) has ever heard of then I wouldn't worry about it. Especially since its not even spelled the way that its "supposed" to be pronounced. And besides...

Weren't they already dead when we arrived? for the most part(alligators are still here after all), but I meant more in the way that humans would protect their young ones even when said defense is suicidal. this is pretty rare among animals, most would just abandon their young and keep on. Hate to b...

Sorry! Originally I assumed that this Sly279person was a guy, then I somehow got the idea you were female ( probably confused you with someone else who protested to someone that they were female-or something). They used to put the person's gender in their Wrongplanet profile so you could check. I gu...

Hi Everyone, I would assume that most of you won't be familiar with events in Europe right now, but I will give it a shot. Europe is flooded now with immigration mostly from Syria, Iraq and other Middle East countries. These numbers come in thousands per day and many countries like Greece, Macedoni...

There is nothing wrong with "making generalizations" as long as you are aware that they are generalizations. Social science is pretty much all about "making generalizations" about various subgroups of the human race. As far as: women being offended by other women making generaliz...

Europe has long gotten a steady stream of migrants from the Middle and North Africa, just like the US gets that from Latin America. But the OP is asking why the sudden huge spike in migrants flooding in to Europe (via both land and sea) from western asia and Africa. Obviously its caused by the recen...

Sea lions are not actual lions. They are more closely related to seals (and yes, there is a difference between the two; sea lions have ear flaps, while seals only have ear holes.) Sea lions also have hind legs, like land mammals, though with flippery feet. And can run pretty fast on land. True seal...

Its hard to track that stat down on the net. Hard to find a place where they break it down by level of functioning. The Center For Disease Control has bar graphs of autistics by state, by gender, and by IQ. Low IQ is around 30 percent, borderline by another 30 percent, and average to high IQ around ...

I wish the OP would clarify just what he is asking. Is he asking why people in general become religious? Or is he asking "how can a person be atheist and religious at the same time?"? Going to church and being religious aren't the same thing. There are reasons an nonbeliever might be a chu...

Galileo said that "Mathematics is the language in which God has written the Universe".

But though you can write a universe in mathematics, you cant have a conversation between humans in mathematics.

ASD actually means "autism spectrum disorder". Not sure what the abbreviation for "aspergers" is supposed to be. Maybe just "AS"?

Good question. Don't know proportion of the circa 1.5 percent of the population who ASD are LFA, and how many are HFA/aspergers.
