I was doing a report for my functional analysis class, had to do a 2 page paper on the movie, Nanny McPhee. The DVD was defective, so I chucked it across the room, slammed the side of the computer with my right hand, and then I thought the monitor went out totally. Boom, I go to the floor, screaming...

I don't like it that they associate mental retardation with autism. Or the fact, when I'm not smiling, they assume I'm unhappy. Usually, I am content. Or, when they use subtleties instead of being direct with me.

Your mom is a control freak, plain and simple. It is sad that she won't allow you to better yourself, if you can, I would get out of that situation.

I try to remove myself from the situation that is causing me to have a sensory overload. The key is to recognize when you're being overwhelmed by it.

I can't imagine not living without it. It is second nature to me! And I think it is fun to look at the world from a different way than the NT way. I think that is boring to me.

It is like second nature to me. Doing something over and over gives me comfort, like daily routines, such as working out at a gym, then going to Culver's to eat out.

What I do with my professors now is give them a handout, explaining what needs I may have for my college courses. One is not using tact or sayings with me, and also to be direct with me, without using hand gestures, otherwise, I'll keep raising my hand to answer questions, when they don't want me to.

Yes, I think it is important to get good grades, if you want a decent career! But, it isn't the end all of be all things.
