We need a little bit of both, in my opinion.

I was speaking more about the "herd immunity" which is allegedly conferred DESPITE vaccines. What you said I agree with. With the help of vaccines. There are notions that if many people catch a certain disease, that the virulence will automatically be reduced; hence, vaccines are not needed.

I'm not talking about what you're talking about. I'm not talking about thorough governmental intervention. I'm speaking more of government, unobtrusively, providing the impetus, through some sort of legislation, whereby the path to success is rendered smoother for tradespeople who are not academical...

Mind if I ask you a question, Dorkseid?

Does rhetorical debate based on rules of logic improve your depression?

Perhaps the "herd immunity" theory could be applied to relatively mild diseases....but when it's something like smallpox, or perhaps even COVID, that theory goes out the window

Of course, people should take the initiative. Obviously.

But it would also be nice if the government were able to inspire conditions whereby tradespeople could have a smoother path to success via their hard work in apprenticeships.

I totally foresee booster shots in the immediate future.

And it might become a yearly thing.

Let's hope the efficacy of the future shots is higher than that of most flu vaccines.

What we need to do is to improve the vocational/"trades" education and opportunities here in the US.

There will always be the need for a carpenter, a roofer, an electrician, a plumber, etc.

There is the issue of HIPAA....and a private landlord's right to access to a tenant's medical records.

I believe, if I was a landlord, that I would prefer a vaccinated tenant.

There are some people who believe in garbage conspiracy theories---like a vaccine would insert a "microchip" into them so the government could keep tabs on them. There are some people who are mighty sensitive to an "infringement upon rights," and don't consider the public health ...
