Nobody wants that life anymore, especially not young women. Indeed I wouldn't expect very many young women to want it. I was just pointing out some specific ways that the "conservative" worldview is out of touch with reality, for those who do want to go back to 1950's-style social norms (...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ln2UvvFwFk4 A Christian comedian from the 80's. He was funny at the time. The description on YouTube says: This is the 1977 Mike Warnke album, Jester In The King's Court Mike gets on stage to bring some Christian humour. Though dated I still find this album quite hum...

I have no love of dressing up in costumes myself. But what I do have a love of is cultural diversity -- including a diversity of international modern subcultures as well as a diversity of traditional cultures. In my experience such diversity can, other factors being equal, make life much easier for ...

My pet peeves include:

1) Being compelled or pressured to wear uncomfortable clothing. I avoid "formal" events for that reason.

2) Cliquish groups that are supposedly open to new members, but make no effort to help newcomers feel welcome.

Like are there any deeply religious comedians Jesus himself. Unfortunately, the only people who can appreciate most of his humor are Bible scholars and the few remaining Aramaic-speaking Christians in the world. In the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke, when the words of Jesus are translated from ...

I don't understand why friends say that they really like my directness but when my directness is focused on them, they get upset. Nobody likes being criticized, even if they recognize that being criticized is a necessary evil. A person who appreciates directness is a person who (like me) would rath...

The above video is The Man Behind The American Oligarchy , all about Peter Thiel (and a little about Elon Musk too). Gambling and porn are far from the most evil things Peter Thiel has been involved with. Gambling and porn are, if anything, rather saintly compared to other matters discussed in this ...

Actually new immigrants flock to areas with cheaper land prices which also happen to be bogan suburbs. So bogans are actually cool with hijabs, kaftans and turbans, "Cool" with them from the get-go, or just "cool" with them eventually, after enough immigrants have moved in and t...

Speaking for Australian suburbs it's a cultural thing (not ethnic). If you dress up like a goth or emo and go strutting around a bogan neighborhood, you may as well be wearing a tutu. Not saying anything will happen but the reaction will range from curious looks all the way to to mobs with pitchfor...

Australian lower income working class are colloquially called bogans. Kind of (roughly) like rednecks in the USA. In some bogan suburbs dressing up like an emo or goth will get you beaten up by both male and female bogans. That's probably true in some -- but by no means all -- poor and working clas...

I honestly didn't think he was all that deep about it, when I probed (which I am prone to do) he circled back to "body-art" so I guess he just found it looked cool. He was also not that well read on the subject of paganism (other than "I'm a pagan dude!). Perhaps he was just dating a...

It does not follow that his entire religious practice is just "elaborate cosplay." By denying the religious significance of his body art, it seems to me that he was just saying he did not regard body art as a religious practice. But he would likely have given you a very different answer h...

And, in the above-quoted previous post, you were complaining specifically about your unpleasant personal encounters with goths and emos as well as with Pagans. I asked for a clarification as to how and why these encounters were so unpleasant for you. Overall I would say none of the above groups I &...

There are a lot of people who are registered Democrats simply because the Democrats just happen to be th...

I think Aspies often find they prefer one-on-one to groups. I certainly do. The social challenges are simpler. Yep. Agreed. One-on-one is MUCH easier, especially for people (like myself) who have difficulty multi-tasking. But there are some problems with limiting one's social life to nothing but on...
