Sometimes parents just don't want to hear that. They deny if without even reading about it or thinking... They need to get ready for the dx. Not everybody wants a label, as they see it. I complained to the school that they didn't tell me about my oldest son's strong Aspie traits. They identified st...

I attended a Tony Attwood seminar yesterday and he used the words Jeckell and Hyde! He talked about Aspies having cycles of waves .... things go well, then things go badly. He talked about an Aspie biorhythm. When things are going well ... great! If the kids are going through a bad time, Tony Attwoo...

I went to a Tony Attwood seminar yesterday. I met up with Szygish. We found a couple of seats together next to a lady. After a couple of hours I asked her whether she was a parent or a teacher. Neither, she was a 44 year old who had just been diagnosed with Asperger's and came to the conference look...

Three good things about my Aspie husband: 1. He's reliable. 2. He thinks I'm wonderful. 3. He loves comic books and shares his favourites with me. What made me smile the most today: my 4 year old son told my earnestly that he only likes Daddy's kisses because of his spikey chin. Mummy's kisses are n...

This sounds exactly like my sons! My sons had weekly therapy at an autism/asperger's clinic last year. THey only went to school 4 days/week last year - the other 1 day/week was at the clinic, then fun projects at home. They had a fabulous Special Ed teacher last year who gave them heaps of support. ...

I wonder about a couple of the videos of your boys--they are less than a minute each and show your boys hitting a teddy bear and then rolling on the couch. Was this for a particular purpose? Were you purposefully showing your boys in a hyperactive state? just curious. equinn I just thought they wer...

After watching this story, I am proud of the Australian approach: Early diagnosis Early intervention Better training of teachers More support for parents/carer's. Hope NO talk of cure NO ridiculous talk of vaccinations NO talk of ridiculous, dangerous therapies NO talk of tragedy/darkness in the fam...

The story mentioned that profoundly affected autistics need life long support. Although early intervention being effective was stressed, the story stated there is still hope for older children and adolescents. A school called 'Giant Steps' that is for autistics was highlighted. It is free but has lo...

I've just watched the show. Here's a summary of what was said (I can't vouch for 100% accurate recall - my sons were playing games noisily in the background so I missed bits): In Australia, more children will be diagnosed with Autism this year than cancer, AIDS and diabetes combined. There are curre...
