I unfortunately know all too many reasons why people think I'm weird, and yet I still wonder what their reasoning is behind it.

I'm 33, people often mistake me for a college student. Looking younger seems to run in my family.

Bullies think they can control other people by laughing at them, and sadly it works a lot of the time.

The biggest problem I have with going out alone, is I just dread dealing with people. I mean store clerks, cashiers, waitresses, etc. also those random strangers who try to make conversation. I find it incredibly annoying and frustrating to deal with all those. I have such a dread of these types of ...

Sure, it's really frustrating to have to learn a whole new language, but ultimately, it makes things better for YOU. That's what I used to think, but I am not so sure anymore. It sure doesn't FEEL like things are better for me. I think I sold out whatever potential I had to do anything real with my...

I don't drink coffee, but I used to drink Cokes all the time and it always seemed to relax me. Caffeine has never kept me awake, except to the extent that I might wake up several times in the night needing to pee after drinking a lot of it.

Indeed. Some people love the perceived power/influence they have over other people, and manipulation is one technique the more twisted people use to gain said power/influence. Right and that's what I just can't fathom. I have learned to recognize it in people (I think) but I just don't understand h...

I really dislike humor at someone else's expense (unless it is taking the piss out of someone who typically laughs at others in a mean way). I like Monty Python too but find it sort of boring at the same time. I have the whole series on dvd. It's soothing to have it on but I don't really pay much at...

Yeah people think I am being funny when I'm not trying to be at all. It totally baffles me. But I've learned it is a good way to get away with saying things that might otherwise rile people up. They think I am just kidding, and I still get to say what is on my mind. People especially laugh at me whe...

I got some flack from college counselors because I signed up for a music tech degree, then took almost nothing but music and music tech classes. I took as few GE classes as I could manage just to fill the requirements. Got a few kind of rude comments from some school counselors about it. One of the...

I know this is not the "right" answer and definitely not something I would recommend to anyone but I learned to be more confident by getting stinking drunk. I am talking about 15 years ago when I was in college, and I don't drink anymore, so I didn't make it a habit. I'm just saying it taught me how...

I agree it's a matter of survival, totally, but that doesn't make it ideal. It doesn't mean I like doing what I have to do to survive. It doesn't mean I find that behavior more worthy or suitable than the way I would behave on my own.

I don't care what other people think of me so long as I don't have to hear about it, or otherwise but up with any rude behavior that results from what they think.

In my experience reputation is more a matter of what people assume about you than it is based on what you actually do.

This is really interesting because I've always been irritated by the notion of "good intentions", albeit in a different context. I think in most situations the outcome of a situation matters more than intentions. Good intentions are not an excuse. But I am thinking of situations like interfering in ...

Bottom line: the literal mind uses language to exchange information honestly, and I would even say, with a benevolent desire to inform. That's where the factual communication hits a snag: when the other person's use of language is disingenuous. That's what has tripped me up throughout my life. I us...
