I feel very similarly, but I have always been a... Oh what's the word, well, overly self-confident. So I tend to think that I'm right and everyone else is wrong. Now that I have kids, I love sharing all of the kid things I still love with them, like riding bikes or painting or playing games... Too b...

I'm sorry you are having such a rough time. Try to remember that you have a right to label yourself. You have a right to use words to convey what you are feeling to others, no matter what a psychiatrist or anyone else says. If you don't feel 100% confortable calling yourself autistic without the con...

From the title of your post, I initially had believed this was supposed to have happened in America. As it didn't, I doubt there's any reason for anyone to lose sleep over this.

They've got people over in Ireland who might care!

*hugs* I'm sorry you're feeling so bad. First, and I know this is probably aomething you've done already, but try to make sure your physical health is in order. For example, I'm prone to anemia, so sometimes I need extra iron. Do you get enough vitamin D, are your thyroid levels good, etc. If all of...

I have one HFA child (that's why I'm here!) and two kind of aspie ones. One of the others has dyslexia, which isn't a big deal, but does make school hard. The other has a chronic illness, which is a much bigger deal. My 4th kiddo is a baby, but he seems very normal.

I hate travel and I definitely think that autism is going to make travel much, much less pleasant. Consider: maybe you have a few specific foods you can stand. Travel means you may not be able to get them. Airplanes and airports are unpleasant for everyone. Unpleasant smells/noises/textures/temperat...

I don't know if I count because I don't have a diagnosis. I was diagnosed with ADD as a kid. That was the fashionable diagnosis back then. My mom says that if I were a kid today, I'd have been diagnosed with asperger's. Well, I guess that's just level 1 autism now, but you know what she means. Anywa...

No one has ever really cared about hate crimes against Jews except other Jews. That article was remarkably good, though.

These places do ABA because insurance/Medicaid pay for it. That's where the money is. Until something else comes along that insurance covers, that's what kids will get.

Someone figured out that having a disabled kid makes their parents sad? Boy there's a shocker. Sometimes I wonder if these researchers get out enough.
