I found out about Tom when I was watching a strongman comp a few years ago. What I don't like in that article is the narrative about his academic struggles, which feeds the myth that autism means not very smart. In fact, why would his autism make academics difficult? Perhaps he had dyslexia or ADHD,... |

OP, what is your new hyperfixation? My last one was eye contact in autism. I'm so afraid I won't ever have another one ever again. I'm not exactly 29 anymore. As we all know, you can't force a SPIN to come on. A SPIN must find you. I can't even get back into my former SPINs. I do have several longte... |

Looney Tunes occasionally insert scenes that only an adult would get. I'm pretty sure it was a Looney Tune I saw, many years ago as an adult, in which a very large bird (not Tweetie, but a larger bird), was being chased. Maybe it wasn't a Looney Tune, but it was a cartoon "aimed at children&quo... |

Anyone read anywhere WHY The Good Doctor is being cancelled? Has it been low in the ratings? I don't want theory. I want the actual information. Are all the writers quitting to do other projects? Does Freddie want out, or what??? I was SO hoping the show would continue for many more years -- I was ... |

I have never seen The Good Doctor because I only get two channels on my tv and the channel it is on is not one of them. But I do like Chicago Med. I am wondering if anyone thinks that the African American chief surgeon character who wears the little skull cap is an Aspie. I think he might be. Yes, ... |

Bathroom: I have overactive bladder. A lot of my dreams are interrupted by me needing to find a bathroom because I literally need to go in reality. 99% of the dreams I can never find a bathroom. Sometimes I'm out in public and can't find a bathroom, or can only find the men's restroom, not the wome... |

Flying: Nearly 100% of my flight dreams are lucid: I'm aware I'm dreaming. Most of my lucid dreams involve flight. Hmmm, wonder why that is. Could these flight experiences be actual out-of-body experiences? The bizarre thing is that often, while I'm in flight, the scenery is exceptionally vivid, and... |

I turn 35 next september, Because I have autism can I only expect to live to 39 years old? You have way more control over your life expectancy than you think. Yes, the average for Level 3 is 39, and for Level 1 is 58. But that's because autistic people take worse care of their bodies, overall, when... |

I would be interested in hearing an example of your experiences in this regard. When did you put an NT in his or her place with your swift problem solving capacity? My boss at the gym where I was a personal trainer, out of the blue, asked, "Why do you have a single long hair growing under your... |

I've had this experience. Just like an NT could rub another NT the wrong way, an Autistic--without even trying--can unknowingly rub other Autistics the wrong way...and not have a clue why or how. |

All dogs are descendants of wolves, but the "breeding" was done unknowingly by primitive peoples. Packs of wolves would follow nomadic tribes who hunted animals. Out of any pack of wolves there's always going to be a more social, less aggressive one that will catch the attention of these p... |

That article leaves a lot of questions. Is a dog even a real animal or just a variety of different creatures created by breeding? How do you define a NT dog? What is the equivalent to people's small talk - wag the tail? Or special interests? This Chinese research project sounds like BS to me. For N... |

We autistics do it for the same reason that drama major in college do it. To rehearse lines. But in our case not in scripted plays but to redo past real conversations with people ...to figure out a better outcome. I'm probably the biggest re-doer out there; been doing it for many many years without... |
