i mostly agree. the majority of people, who like to be like others & to have others be like them, are often repelled; a lesser proportion, that likes to be different & appreciates difference in others, will sometimes welcome me as another misfit. but i really don't fit in with them either. i...

there was a time in my life when i really liked doing this (strong doses & often), but it's been ages. i had many interesting experiences, 99% positive, but what i'd like to focus on was a certain persistent illusion it gave me: that i could read minds . i've had occasion to wonder lately whethe...

i took to it immediately i guess it was the year of Bobby Fischer; i was an unformed pre-adolescent & it gave me, for the first time, an area outside of school i could excel at. i played passionately at the local chess club for a number of years, with a little bit of monetary success, & a lo...

ever since i was quite young, astronomy has been one of my obsessions. living in the city, there wasn't a big observational component (the moons of Jupiter, Saturn's ring, some larger features on the moon), but i made do with calculations, which i began with logarithms & eventually got a scienti...

i agree that there sometimes is an instinctual aversion in neurotypicals. not all of them; a few are highly compassionate. but this issue, more than most (i guess you would have to compare a severe physical deformity to incite the same depths of cruelty perhaps) makes it easy to see us as an "un-per...

i know what you mean. i was completely mystified by "the problem of other minds" for the longest time. i read all the time, trying to understand why people did the things they did. unfortunately, characters in novels mostly do things for plot-reasons rather than for their own. what changed it for me...

these days i don't (much), but when i was a kid i would become obsessed with a particular kind of candy or candy flavor & want to eat it all the time. fortunately, my parents didn't think that was a good idea (unlike some parents these days). i still have weird feelings when i contemplate those ...

"handedness is a homeland." i started out left but was made in school to learn to write with the other. (i suppose with increasing tolerance there will be fewer & fewer & finally none treated so.) i've observed over the years various facets of this, which i call being "parasinistral". for in...

i started my own language when i was 12 or so. you can find a lot of them on the internet now. the term preferred is "conlanging". i wouldn't be surprised if many of them were aut-spectrum (cf Rick Harrison's poll). but it's not easy to get other people to learn strange words (not to mention grammar...
