I just spent the last 2 hours (in addition to innumerable hours in days prior) searching the internet and making phone calls, and it seems all I can find are answering machines and incompetent idiots who have never even heard the term "progressive developmental disorder." I'm just about ready to gi...

I dread going to bed every night. I don't know what I"m afraid of, but I stay up as long as I can even though it means I'll oversleep in the morning. And that is causing real damage in my life. Serious damage. Why can't I put myself to bed? In the daylight hours, I'm only too happy to take a nap, o...

There's a Greasemonkey script called Tired Eyes - http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/23129 - that turns the background black & the text gray when you hit F2. Works on any web page. I like to use it on pages with a busy background that makes text hard to read.

You could bring a book with you. Then at least you have a reason to sit by yourself - and reading is enjoyable.

I use Vuze to search for torrents (it has a nice Firefox toolbar). Then I use Transmission for the actual downloads, because it has a very small footprint on my system & gets the job done.

Why does being in crowded or noisy places overwhelm me? I don't know (unless it's because I have sensory over-sensitivities due to AS.) I do know that it doesn't happen instantly - I have to be in the environment for some time before it becomes overwhelming. If I'm there for shorter periods, I just ...

Has anyone here had the actual playing of a musical instrument, or learning all they can about music theory, as a special interest?... Only for about half my life. :D I love to analyze the music I play - it provides a depth of understanding that wouldn't be there if I just learned the notes. It hel...

I'm a life-long "people watcher." When I see a group of two or more people, I try to guess their relationship to one another. I even make up stories about their lives - where they are coming from, where they are going. When I was stationed in Belgium (on an international post, with people from thirt...

...it’s vexing that Dunne isn’t as well remembered as Hepburn or Bette Davis. She certainly had the talent. Maybe if she had kept acting as long as Hepburn or Davis, instead of retiring from the screen in 1953, more people would remember her. I think you're onto something with the comment about thi...

Absolutely!

I totally agree with your list - especially Holiday & The Awful Truth (I love Cary Grant, Katherine Hepburn & Irene Dunne!)

Yes, I dislike people getting physically close to me (assuming I haven't asked them to.) I am very conscious of the boundaries of my personal space. I also hate it if people walk too close behind me - since I can't see them, my anxiety is multiplied. As PunkyKat said, I can feel people's presence - ...
