For all anyone knows, the predictions regarding anthropogenic climate change could be as wrong as the "Miasma theory" was, which people believed for a very long time. "The miasma theory (also called the miasmic theory) is an abandoned medical theory that held that diseases—such as cho...

It is an important, critical question to ask, which prompts a person to observe why they believe what they believe, and from which sources? Could the predictions be wrong?

Saying "the scientists said so" isn't very specific and seems to verge on dogma.

The evidence is undeniable for climate change as a general phenomenon, but how strong is the evidence for anthropogenic climate change? That's a whole other issue and people often conflate the two concepts.

People can put pressure on policy makers and adjust their lifestyle in a variety of ways. To that end, scientists and knowledgeable spokespeople can inform the public about the gravity of the situation which is what Nye was doing. I would say he was being an alarmist. He has pointed to the worst pr...

^ Well, in any case, I can't do much about climate change apart from giving up meat perhaps, and I'm not prepared to do that. I already have a relatively low carbon footprint. I live with family, I don't have a personal transport vehicle etc. There's really no point worrying about climate change, un...

I have seen all sorts of predictions from various sources, including from the IPCC. Some sources say the negative effects of climate change won't be seen for nearly a thousand years and other sources say that within a few decades there will be chaos due to climate change. Even if the worst predictio...

Maybe you don't understand what the word skeptical means. I do indeed know what skeptical means. In this instance, I meant it specifically as an adjective to mean "doubtful about a particular thing" (doubtful about Bill Nye). If you think his science is questionable, how is it that you ar...

Hi, my name is Laura. I'm 47 and was just diagnosed. The diagnosis came about after being attacked at work and my mental health diagnoses of panic disorder, depression and suicidal ideation didn't seem to explain things and the meds were only a little helpful. Now I'm in a position of having to lea...
