To get elected you have to have a following, Libertarians lack that, they are dissatisfied Republicans. They want no regulation, done by nobody. That will not work in practice, because it cannot be enforced. The right wing Republicans have no scruples about regulating other people's sexual behavior...

That is the root of the problem. Commmunism is like sharing a bank account with the community. They call it tradegy of the commons. Everyone wants to take out no one wants to put in. True communism calls for equality of all. There are no "dictators" under communism, because there are no "governments. That is the root of the problem. Commmunism is like sharing a bank account with the community. They call it tradegy of the commons. Everyone wants to take out no one wants to put in.

I think it mainly comes down to many people believing that politicians suck, but at least this one appears that he actually car about people. He is also young and hip. He is not like these old and out of touch folk, who have tried and failed in post.

The UK is working on 'austerity,' the US is not. Regardless of the actual numbers, conservatives here generally want austerity (most of them feeling quite secure that it wouldn't impact them directly).
