The thing about the public getting to vote is that everyone's vote is counted equally, regardless of the reason. So the person who takes voting very seriously and does hours of research on the candidates counts equally with the person who votes for a laugh, and they each count equally with the perso...

If this were in a fictional story being discussed on social media... Scenario A) The Blurt is the thief and the non-Blurt is the homeowner: "This isn't proper Blurt representation! Blurts need strong, positive role models! Imagine being a young Blurt reading this and seeing their people depicte...

...which of the options in this poll would you prefer them to choose? This is just a hypothetical question. I assume most voters would prefer other voters to vote the same way they do. I was just curious, if that option was taken away, what would be your next-best choice for other voters to do? (Not...

Thanks, everyone, for your responses :). ...Your friend MIGHT have meant "is Ichabod Crane the headless horseman in ...the original novel". Yes, that was also something I mentioned, right before the bit about the multiple adaptations I hadn't seen, that I hadn't read the original book. So ...

I don't know if it's an AS trait, but it sounds like me. My mind goes round and round the different options and I always stress when I finally have to make a decision.

Recently, my friend has gotten mad at me a few times for the way I respond in conversation. Tonight, I asked him if he'd seen Disney's old "Sleepy Hollow" film, because I'd just watched a video about it. He said he thought he had and then mentioned that there'd also been a TV series of &qu...

Many terms that become popular on the internet eventually become so broadly defined that they cease to have any meaning.

I'm probably going to jinx it (I'm an atheist, but sometimes I'm irrationally superstitious about the universe's sense of irony :D) but I haven't been harassed by as many religious evangelists recently. It used to happen a lot more when I was younger, and perhaps they thought, more impressionable. T...

Well, I was born in 1981 too, and that quote sounds very lame (or "square", to use an 80s term) to me. I wouldn't call the quote outright political manipulation, though... just badly written and trite partisanship. Why not this instead? In this election, We the Boomers will be outnumbered...

I'm not going to vote. I believe the right to vote includes the right not to vote. Otherwise it would be called the Duty to Vote, like Jury Duty. As far as Jury Duty goes, I've only received a summons twice in my life. Both times I was required to call in for a week to see if I was called to appear ...

I have a facebook friend who seems like a nice, smart guy and posts lots of interesting tidbits about history. He also keeps posting "get out the vote" stuff, which I find less compelling. (He's a Democrat, but I see this kind of stuff from both sides.) This guy says: "Stats say this ...

^ Yes, you're correct, it was more to vent. When it comes to fixing any sort of problem, I often seem to go with the "devil you know beats the devil you don't" approach. When my operating system works right, which is most of the time, I like it. In the OP I described the updates as "c...

^ It is Windows 10. I don't usually have that much of a problem with it, but one update did make Photoshop non-functional (accompanied by the requisite meltdown) and I had to restore it back to before the update. Why that didn't happen again when it updated later, I have no idea. In this case, the c...

^ It's a fairly new factory-made Lenovo laptop. Computer updates have always made me extremely nervous no matter what computer I've had. They seem to always be perfectly timed to when I absolutely can't stand waiting any longer to get on here and draw. The larger issue is that, I feel like other art...

I have six straight days of work ahead of me. Dull, stressful, soul-crushing work. Today is my day off. I woke up late and dealt with my OCD and I was finally going to get to go on Photoshop and draw for a few hours. NOPE. Computer decided it's time to update. I just updated it last week, but not go...

...Here's an example of a "moral argument" for God from the Christian propaganda film "God's Not Dead." The Christian student hero claims that his atheist professor is being hypocritical and "acting like a Christian" by telling the students they can't cheat on their te...
