One main idea is that people with college educations were more likely to vote for Harris. Everyone else pretty much preferred Trump. I guess this was the second video. Interesting statistic, and I've heard it's true. Don't quite know what it means in practice. She was speaking glowingly of Huey Lon...

Getting a girlfriend. That was a very early one and although I kind of achieved it, my "success" eventually led me to realise that the goal needed modifying, so it became one of finding a partner I was fairly compatible with, learning how to get along with them in peace and harmony, and cu...

Any narrative from a source labelled "The Man Problem" is certain to contain sexual bias, if not outright misandrous sexism. Must confess the title put me off. It could be that the lady was trying to rouse interest via a misleadingly controversial and sexist title. Well, it might work on ...

The last three videos are about voluntary identity choices. One of my main criticisms of “wokeism” is that it is heavily about demanding others not use language “wokes” disapprove of. It would hypocritical of me to criticize others for choosing not to use that word. This thread is now 10 pages long...

Was the thing making me angry something I could or could not control? I suspect that control has a lot to do with it. If it's a person, one option is to try to teach them they can't mess with you. If they're rather untouchable, the sense of frustration at having no viable plan for doing that might ...

I can get angry at awkward situations as well as at awkward people. When I'm angry at a situation, it doesn't usually last long unless I start to think there was a human agency behind it. So maybe there's something special about people that can motivate me to bear a grievance in a way that mere situ...

It's forecast to get down to 21F next Thursday here, but otherwise nothing that chilly on the horizon. South Westerly winds here and there seem to be protecting us to some extent. Also it's reasonably dry, but relative humidity still 32% indoors. Didn't see any sparking last year. No doubt the harsh...

^ Season 1 wasn't too popular, I gather, but Seasons 2 and 3 were. Don't know whether the content found its feet or the audience did. I haven't seen it but it's now on my list to take a shufti* at it. I like stuff that makes me think. *Shufti: English military slang dating from the 19th century colo...

Perhaps. Perhaps Bee should be more respectful to others and their opinions as well. It goes both ways. There's nothing disrespectful from Bee on this thread. And it would be hard to find anything of the kind anywhere else. Thank you for saying that ToughDiamond, but I've had my moments that are no...

That's just completely untrue. Yes, you stating vaccines are perfectly safe is indeed completely untrue. I'm glad you are finally able to see and admit the truth Oh, come on. It's true that there were rare cases of lethal blood clots, but you could have broken it to Bee a bit more gently than that.

Right, it wasn't much of a landslide. It's just that because of the system, one lot will get most of the power for a while. It's usually the way, huge swathes of people get disenfranchised. In the UK, Boris called the Brexit result "the people's will." Truth is, it was more of a momentary ...

I used to enjoy making copies of those BASIC games that were copy-protected. Actually some of them were mostly in Sinclair Assembly Language ("machine code"), but I remember that Ant Attack was BASIC, only it was disguised as machine code by loading into a different part of RAM and getting...

I had a brief passion for cheap chocolate bars from Aldi, in the 1990s. Whole nut, and fruit and nut mostly. I'd break a huge bar up into large chunks, put it in the coldroom at work, and I'd keep going in there and grabbing a chunk to scoff. But after a week or two I started to feel like crap, and ...

Well, he lived to a ripe old age, but it's always a shame when somebody dies. I expect he will rest in peace. I think we all do. And it was very clever of him to invent BASIC. So he gets my seal of approval. I fondly remember using the language - those were the days, when computer users were encoura...

I'm not much scared by vaccines, having had quite a few of them since my childhood and suffered no apparent harm from them. I suppose there's always an outside chance that some clown will put a toxic additive in there or some new technology will turn out to be dangerous, so it's a matter of balancin...
