Same here, just now in my forties I realize it. I don't have the money it costs to get a diagnosis, and here it's not a good idea to get one because you get less insurance coverage if you have any condition. My family have an obsession with normality too, being extremely dependent on the approval of...

My therapist attributes all my social impotence to the trauma of the abuse I suffered as a child. I don't agree, but I don't have it clear what problem is due to AS and what problem is due to the PTSD.

All my life my parents put my siblings as examples of good, kind, considerate behavior to me. They always called me mean, evil, selfish, etc. Nowadays, they're old and totally disabled and abandoned by both my siblings. The only one who is in touch with them and helps them is me, and I do the imposs...

So very well said! If we defined other minorities by how many aspies define themselves, we'd get... Black = disability caused by over-pigmentation of the skin and causing severe socialization problems [with the white majority]. Jew = syndrome causing the dellusion of monoteism and causing frequent c...

"We lack the qualities and abilities NT's innately possess." Some. And they lack some of ours. Like there's internalized homophobia, it saddens me to see there's so much internalized aspiephobia in aspies. I guess a couple generations will have to pass before most aspies understand we're equal and n...

I've been working for decades now and changed many, many jobs. Always fired or pushed to leave. Then I finally find a new job, and I know my chances of being fired or pushed to leave are almost 100%. i know it because "not knowing" would be being an idiot, in light of my history. Then someone (who k...

When will we aspies stop thinking about ourselves in terms of syndrome, disorder, disability, limitation, etc.? Are black people disabled because their skin is not white? Are English speakers disordered because they can't speak Swedish like the Swedish do? Do artists have a syndrome because they're ...

New Age "Positive Thinking" is nothing but the old value of "Have faith in God" disguised as very modern and cool. Poor herd buys anything if flashed at them as modern and cool.
