I'm not actually responsible for the thread nor have I posted anything remotely inflammatory? Then this is my error. But I thought labeling people with an inflammatory name such as "racist" was not kosher, proper, or approved of in this group? And frankly two of you doing so at the same t...

At least two separate supervisors have had the nerve to ask me "why are you smiling?". One supervisor was a female lawyer. The other was a female Certified Public Accountant. While I am FTM trans. Quite frankly, I found it annoying they had the nerve to ask. It was like they were so arrog...

From now on you John Powell can spout any racist tripe you want, and the rest of us wont call you "racist". But he already spouts racist nonsense, he just wants us to agree with him... I've just been jumping from topic to topic this morning...don't know why, and stumbled across this shame...

I'm a critical care nurse and when interacting with the patients' families I go into smiley nurse mode. The tone of my voice changes too. With coworkers I guess I don't have that presentation so much because they are often suggesting "smile some honey" or asking "are you OK?". I...

1200 since 2014? That's just a little less than one a day...not so much.

It will probably be 1200 people telling me to go soak my head in a bucket of water....or words to that effect. :D

perhaps I can say the field I work in (I ride ambulances/EMT) is rather demanding in this regard, much moreso than customer service, so it is kind of hard to compare, but I actually enjoy putting on a smile and talking to people now. Much moreso than when I was in school or working customer service...

Hi Tom...Nice website. :D I wish I'd had this available a few years ago when I attempted to lay up a small short wall "free hand." What a mess. I like your site. I think I might be able to do some acceptable (my standards...not yours :D) work following your direction. Thanks. A very easy t...

I think it has something to do with "teamwork" but if you don't happen to be part of the team ( part, that is, in more than name only) then you don't feel included. That's about where I've been in relation to such things in my life. I think, if management has done it's job well, it works q...

Hmmmmm. That could have been me and my UC some years ago. I chose to battle it out using drugs and diet/activity modification. It worked for me. The surgery consists of the complete removal of the large intestine and since ulcerative colitis is only involved with the large intestine it is considered...

This was a really great post. Hello! I come from Thailand... Is everyone from Thailand as smart as you? I sure hope someone with the ability finds a way to permanently pin this to the top of the subject column. Everyone in a technical (or non-technical) field should get to see this before heading ou...

Today one of my bosses said to me that she didn't like that I wasn't smiling. I felt like telling her that was her problem and not mine. I don't go around with a grin on my face and honestly I'm hard to amuse. Besides that, imo it was a totally unreasonable time to expect me to be smiling. I was in...

Before I retired I worked for a company that manufactured machinery and sold supporting parts (supporting parts = sand paper, cutting tools to fit our machinery, etc.), and we could also supply a service person, for repair/tune up "on site", if needed. Some of out machinery was complex, wi...

But you believe the government should pay for your medical bills? The "I got mine" attitude can be applied many different ways and I don't think you'd support the great majority of it. This idea that this is a global meritocracy couldn't be more false, the elite have moved jobs off shore ...

I wonder how the anti-marijuanas feel about their losing battle with the progressing acceptance of weed. They probably feel like the whole country is going to pot. I've known that for a few years. Too bad for the country. (Another reason why I don't trust tRump or Clit-Toungue or Sanders) Too bad f...
