Hi I mentioned Synaesthesia before as one of my symptoms For Donkey and anyone else wondering it's a rare but harmless condition where the senses are 'cross wired' and for some reason you automatically associate different colours with numbers/days or even particular sounds. It's not unique to AS but...

Hi Steve As it happens I'm between jobs at the moment,my employer having 'downsized' and I took a redundancy package. This was before I learned all about AS so to some extent I'm able to take stock now. In general I enjoyed the type of work I was doing (road exports) and maybe it was the firm's circu...

Roman,I'm fairly new here so can't claim to be an expert, but in terms of one aspect of AS - being self-absorbed (which we all are to some degree) - I think you are definitely more than a 'mild' case. Nobody can say you're not a caring person however and your energy, focus and attention to detail is a...

Hi Steve,I'm also 46 and only discovered about AS earlier this month so I know how you feel. The job I was doing made me depressed as it had gone from being interesting to getting more and more hectic and taking over my life. I'm in the distribution business which can be stressful at times (if you l...

Hi I think I subconsciously adopted a different 'persona' at work (slightly more outgoing and in control than I really was) in order to try and fit in better. The problem is you can become so good at pretending that it starts to be a strain trying to keep it going and you also delude yourself into t...

Hi Colin Ian from Scotland here It took me even longer to 'see the light' about AS as I'm 47 and only read about all the symptoms on the net last month. I'd always had an idea I was 'singing from a different songbook' but I met people through work and I think I must have subconsciously adopted a dif...

I know what you mean about it being difficult sometimes to understand things like forgiveness. One thing that might help is if we remember that we will need to be forgiven ourselves by other people, possibly for things that we didn't even realise we were doing wrong at the time. The more we forgive o...

On the original subject of God supposedly giving normal people a better deal than us with AS . If God is all-powerful then who are we to question what happens? I think we should remember that everyone has different problems to cope with in their lives. What about 'normal' people with non-AS issues l...

I've always seen numbers, days and countries in colour. I used to think I'd subconsciously associated the shapes of numbers with different things,eg 2 is white as it looks like a swan. Doesn't explain why 3 is green or 4 is red etc so that theory never got off the ground ! As for countries I think it...
