I'm apparently doing a lot worse than you with those expectations: I tried substitute teaching and got fired, as far as I could tell, because of "office politics" (a teacher's aide who didn't like me). Since then I've been unemployed: I'm a "stay at home mom", except that my husband doesn't really m... |

Not an answer to your question, but others already said what I would have to that. To the average person I might just look like a normal adult female, but I normally have the BMI of a "normal" adult male. And it's not even true that I am so skinny, because the ultrasound tech commented on how bloate... |

I don't care for tampons, any size, they feel dry and scratchy and I'm paranoid about TSS. I use instead cups, which are awesome, but do take some practice to learn to put in/take out correctly so they won't leak. |

Not really, since what depresses me is the struggle to understand the rest of the world and communicate effectively. I'm sick of feeling stupid. |

Goldfish, no offense, but the way you go on about your diet seems very, very, aspie-ish.
I don't think you cured it. |

No. Although there is an upside to it and I wouldn't want to change in this life, because I wouldn't be myself anymore, I think 90 years (my life expectancy) is enough. It is a hard life overall and if I believed in reincarnation I'd hope to be rewarded with something a little less, well, miserable.... |

The "wiring" of your brain changes over the course of your life, though, doesn't it? |

God, I'm really getting angry at all the tut-tutting over using "person first language". When are they going to get the message that autistic people, more often that not, actually find "person with autism" insulting?
Probably never, because that would mean listening to us. |

Jeez, if you're working and living with your parents, you should have the security deposit in no time. You don't need furniture at first - in my first apartment I started out with a sleeping bag and computer on the floor. |

Having been both (my weight has fluctuated a lot in my life), they're hard in different ways. I'm female, though - it may be different for men. But it seems to me when you're attractive, men are more likely to overlook your mistakes or find them cute; however, strange guys are far, far more likely t... |

Not surprising at all. I wonder why they're surprised that the "lifetime" suicidal ideation was higher than the (presumably current?) depression, though: just because you've been depressed doesn't mean currently are - or even if it's depression in one's lifetime, feeling suicidal can be a momentary ... |

Isolation, hot baths, a blanket wrapped tightly around my shoulders and arms. Intense, dramatic music. Being outdoors, especially in a forest or near a lake. Staring into a fire. Lap swimming and long walks. Hot beverages. Talking to myself or singing. From when I was a kid, running my fingers over ... |

I don't think it's really possible to "control" meltdowns, but autistic people can learn to avoid them. You should identify the situations where this happens and teach him an alternative, a way to remove himself from the stressful situation. If a meltdown starts, same thing, remove him from the situ... |

A woman I know said that to me recently to explain why she thought somebody was obnoxiously trolling on the internet. I had to bite my tongue, because I prefer to stay closeted in most situations, but I found it annoying that apparently "autism" was becoming the explanation for people acting like as... |

The confusion between NPD and ASD is a very toxic and erroneous one for the ASD community, and the mislabelling of NPD parents as ASD is an absolute tragedy for their children. And actually, what the...? If someone is neglected, they suffer from it regardless of what the neglectful parent's diagnos... |
