And a significant chance of your not really minding that. Most Aspies aren't asexual, but most asexuals are Aspies. There are parts I would never give up in a million years. There are parts I hate but also wouldn't give up because they go with things I wouldn't give up. And then there are the parts ... |

So... I don't really understand these categories. I don't know where I fit. I also don't think they're right about people staying where they are on their scale. |

I think I experience that sensory fade. I definitely do with smell, even relatively strong smells. |

I actually like staring contests even though I have trouble making eye contact while having a conversation. For me, though, it's just that I like to compete and I'm good at staring contests. Initially, when I would see eyes, they'd scare me, it'd kind of hurt to look at them. I managed to desensitiz... |

(I'm not a psych survivor and that's not where my experiences come from, but that's the group I can quickly name that will cover most of the people who will have PTSD flashbacks from my post.) Have you ever known someone whose words are more than just words? Like, if they tell you to do something, t... |

ETA: Oh, and "Rett angel"?? Eww. I've never liked the whole thing where some of the parents of kids with these syndromes call them "angels". They're not angels, they're kids, at least until they're adults, then they're adults. But they're people , at any rate, their whole lives through, and aren't ... |

Limit your exposure to carcinogens, be healthy, don't worry about it. If it does happen, there are natural remedies, it's really... look, when people say "cancer" and you think "deadly disease that will make me waste away and die painfully within months," it's kind of similar to when you say "autism... |

Looks like the take-home message is that annoying behaviour is annoyng behaviour, and that awareness makes little difference. Does that make us inferior or undesirable in an absolute sense? Or are the exceptions common enough to invalidate that generalisation? Most of what's considered "annoying As... |

What's your age in years? You don't have to answer on the thread, but if you take the poll, please be honest and don't skew my results. Yep, the categories were chosen basically randomly. :P I did try to make the length of them reflect how similar the people in them were likely to be to each other w... |

Well, since people with autism seem to be at an increased risk of being tortured, murdered or overall treated like they're worthless, I'd hazard a guess that the life expectancy is probably reduced, not so much because we're inherently not healthy but because, well... yeah. But so long as the people... |

And one more thing. That the definitions are so broad and vague, what if this Asperger's stuff is just a trap for people who have suspected they are on the "wrong planet"? It would not be too difficult, I imagine, to formulate a list which covers pretty much everyone who has a gripe with the world.... |

I wouldn't feel bad at all about my liver going to an alcoholic. I'd be glad to know I could save any life that way. I would just feel bad about my liver going to an alcoholic while I still have a use for it. I mean, if it wouldn't put my life at risk, I would feel fine with the thought that someone... |

I've heard of doctors being a little quicker to say people are in a "persistent vegetative state" because they want organs. Would YOU want to give them any more incentive to kill you?
(Moot point since I don't intend to die in or near a hospital anyway.) |
