It's an interesting thought but I try not to get sucked into unfounded conspiracies, for the last 40 years it was the right wing that espoused grand theories of white genocide and world government. Now that the predictions made by conservatives are coming true, left wing groups will take up the cons...

It's the opinion of the head of the DGSI this time, not just some random right winger called Mikah on these forums. The American equivalent might be the head of the Department of Homeland Security publicly telling Congress that civil war is imminent, it should not be dismissed as nonsense out of hand.

Some pre-monotheism cultures did live more in harmony with nature, of course didn't mean the people in said cultures were all wonderful and lived in harmony with one another. For instance the the polytheistic viking culture seems like it was quite in tune with nature with all their gods being tied ...

No I think that's what she meant, as in inspiring admiration. Looks like we're dealing with someone who has fallen for the myth of the "noble savage". The myth that humans were wonderful and lived in harmony with nature and love with one another until shock! horror! monotheism appears on t...

Andrea Leadsom is a religious bigot. She voted against gay marriage and LGBT rights, saying that they "hurt Christians". So f**k her, that's all I can say. I'm sure you've heard of the tale of the boy who cried wolf. This is a woman skeptical of gay marriage: http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto...

It's frigging irritating to have to submit things several times due to some coding bug in the system, especially so when a failure to submit can sometimes wipe out parts or all of a long post because the document has expired while writing.

shlaifu I found your post difficult to follow but I will try to respond. for this view to make sense, you need to see it with the idea of an afterlife in mind. The view that, if there is none, the outcome is the same. However, from the atheist perstpective, there will be no adding up of sins against...

I mean, sure, you could say that he "saved" the other half that survived, but why was he so picky? If he was "all powerful" like some Christians say his is the why could't he just save them all? I think gingerpickles gave a decent response, though you rejected it out of hand. To...

We're just living through one of those periods future historians will euphemistically call "turbulent". Politics is polarised because politics as we have known it for the last 50 years is dead by its own hands. Revolution is in the air.

I don't know what's happening in the US but in the UK polling organisations have quite a bit of egg on their face. The vast majority were wrong about the last general election and the recent referendum on EU membership. If the polls say Clinton will win, might be time to place a large bet on the Tru...

I would say you're being exceptionally naive on this one. The E.U. will make a trade retaliation, they HAVE to punish to maintain control, it's a function of power. We have much more to lose by the E.U. leaving our trade bloc than Britain leaving our trade bloc-- again, it's wealthier and has more ...

How big is Britain's economy? Not near what the E.U. is as a whole (hell not even close to Germany itself). By bundling it all up as one unit and operating as such, it allows all member nations to benefit in the form of negotiation ^ The EU's price for that is nationhood itself and everything that ...

Well yes, that's kind of the point of the E.U. that I think you're missing: you can have local trade partners (this century) or you can have neighbors at war (last century). That might have been how it started, but it's just about naked power now, you do not need political union and free movement o...
