Teasing: with other ASD folks (exchange information as desired in time and subject), or other NT folks (say anything in 2 second intervals then match the intervals and subject matter to theirs)?

I was depressed from age 8 until near 40. In my mid 30s I started wondering that I wasn't really depressive, that it was circumstantial. In my late 40s it was confirmed that untreated anxiety was the primary factor all along. Good luck in your self-exploration.

I did the same, aside my engineering degree I studied advanced psychology and communication. I took drama from a young age and practiced expressing myself "appropriately" and using scripts. My 10-year-old ASD-like daughter (DX still pending) has already taken it upon herself to educate her...

I hear ya' magz. I still dress down to avoid unwanted attention. I also had one particularly horrid subway experience. I was fortunate that the sexual harassment/assaults I experienced were relatively minor. Many women I know can't say the same. My husband admits he initially chose me for my looks, ...

..I don’t think we are going backwards so much as remaining stagnant. I suspect that this is related to high levels of religiosity. My company went predominantly BACKWARDS. Its merger was during the previous presidential term and some women believe it gave "permission" for poorer behavior...

My ASD traits are relative to my environment - gentle environment, gentle traits; stressful environment, pronounced traits. I've gained skills, but also I face higher demands these days. My ASD mom's traits lessened when her life demands lessened, but now in her late 70s as demands are increasing (h...

I have Asperger's *and* I'm left-handed. I should have died in my early 30's. LOL - Me too (and I'm your age-ish). I've stayed away from standard power tools, struggled with (and failed) right-handed instructions A LOT, and survived numerous soup attacks from buffets' right-hand biased ladle...

My wedding. I didn't know I was Autistic, so didn't know to manage my sensory and anxiety issues. It went well enough, but I have huge regrets about how I **didn't** manage some obstacles. Of course my family didn't know either, so personally faulted me for my difficulties rather than helping. They ...

Got it. My ADHD child has a good dose of inadvertently breaking rules (and literally crossing lines). I think of myself as an absentminded professor.

As usual, I relate. It became apparent by 2nd grade (age 6) that my daughter is struggling with this (now 10) --- she doesn't like that she gets "in trouble" with everyone else (or singled out like you said) when she's doing her darndest to behave. Teachers have assured her it's not her, o...

^^ The Leaves on the Stream and similar exercises come to mind. Those exercises are for meditation, to take a thought and place it on a passing leaf. Would that I might do that in those circumstances. It has a lot to do with my feelings of helplessness rather than being self-empowered. One day...

Joe, so sorry for that presumptuous and grumpy supervisor. My ASD daughter and I both struggle with grumpy (and ignorant or incompetent) people in positions of power or influence. If we are in the position of power or influence, we are inquisitive or comforting to the other person (or at least don't...

My grandmother sued her 20-some daughter (my aunt). The judge threw it out and suggested (or ordered?) my grandmother to get psychiatric help. It was fairly traumatic for my aunt (esp. when she was served the papers completely unexpectedly at an inopportune time). Thankfully she survived. We both ag...
