i am barely old enough to have experienced the 60s directly, but just the same i am too young to have had any fun back then, as i was just in single digits. i can remember watching a new series called star trek on our brand-new setchell-carlson color console tv set while hiding in the box it came in...

my big sister used to harp on me vigorously, because i would eat my sandwiches [still do, btw] in a circle so i could get the yucky crust out of the way and then concentrate on the yummy middle. i still to this day haven't understood her objections to this sandwich eating method. she would insist th...

this man is a professional athlete, not the pope. why are his mea culpa utterings treated as a news event? why should he even have to go through this manufactured public rehabilitation event? he was already "habilitated" just fine for a typical alpha male in our society. not that i am saying he is a...

other than politics, there is nothing i find as uninteresting as sports, including the olympics. i would rather watch jeopardy, or if i lack any other choices, then just watch paint drying on a wall. You know whats funny is that sports and politics are my two favorite things to follow. ______...

I watched a episode of some series about honor killings. A young woman was raped. So to not bring shame to her family, her oldest brother kills her. He doesn't go to jail at all. He is happy he killed her too. I think this was in Pakistan. Disgusting. Murder is murder! The US justice system isn't p...

It was an aquired taste for me too. It helps to survive in society to take some interest in TV sports to help out in on the job small talk etc. The last superbowl was actually pretty good entertainment-lots of dramatic reversals. So- it was like watching grass grow- rather than drying paint! And I ...

[/quote] Well it's been a while since any SA'n leader has spoken Afrikaans (as a first language). Nowadays the language has a very colloquial feel to it. You get this impression when you watch programmes on tv. I'll share some words (using my very finite knowledge I must add) Yes - Ja (Yaah) No - Ne...

he has a concealed toughness, rather like an iron fist in a velvet glove. his main limitation is his reluctance to get his hands dirty in a fight with the repubs, iow he is reluctant to take off the [velvet] gloves and slap somebody silly when they need it.

god is not mocked, in a future existence the rapist will have to deal with the negative karma he has created. probably not in this lifetime, though, which is absolutely no comfort for his victim. he is probably laughing about it, but the last laugh will be at his expense.
