Same reason I find "tard" offensive. It's a lazy abbreviation of ret*d. I find laziness offensive to begin with.
Take if from there. Even if the full word is used it can be offensive. It's all about context.
"ret*d development" isn't offensive to me.
"What are you, a 'tard?' is. |

He doesn't differentiate. So his load is not balanced? That could cause potential overload. I just hope that it's not terminal. This calls for a battery of tests. I'll check the electrolytes, you check his pulse. Sinusoidal output! Is he a machine? Periodically, it seems... Could be under-clocked? ... |

I still don't see why such a question would be categorized under "reading comprehension", since it seems we are all able to read the passage and understand that a king died after his son died, and most of us also realize that the death of a son would cause grief.
