The lack of walking is a symptom of helicopter parenting which is a symptom of fear being all out of proportion in America. It is not only social skills that suffer but physical and mental health. The lack of walking leaves you vulnerable to the obvious diseases such as heart disease and stroke but...

I never walked to school once. I wouldn't have been able to get up early enough to walk 20 miles to school, attend school, and then 20 miles home again before dark. On the other hand, I would sometimes get off at a previous stop and walk or run the mile home from there. In many cases, I could get ho...

savory. A lawyer told me once about a final exam in a law school course. The students were all seated at their desks when the prof walked in. He set three beer cans on the table in front of the class and then left. The lawyer said that many students couldn't figure anything out from this. He said t...

Because to me "faith" is what made people torture and burn people who wanted to "know". A christian is taking the side of people who tore the flesh off the bones of a librarian in 412 CE and ushered in the dark ages. Religious people are fair game. Religious beliefs, like all be...

:-) First you make the chocolate, and then you put it on the moose. :-) Sounds better than haggis. Finally had time to listen to Dame Glennie. Goodness, she is stunning! and she has an absolutely beautiful voice. (If you can think of the musical Brigadoon as serious music - I can, anytime Robert Go...

For some religions, believers of that religion are "validated" by everyone else being in the same religion. For many of those believers, anyone who refuses to join their religion are seen as being blasphemous enemies who don't deserve to live.

Guess which religion is most like that today.

Oh right, you've just been pretending not to all this time. No pretending. What I've written about is the truth. OK, then write what you think happened on 9/11. Osama Bin Laden and other Muslim religious fanatics got their equally fanatical underlings to fly a couple hijacked planes into the Twin T...

I am amazed that she can speak as well as she does despite being stone deaf. Yikes! I can hardly imagine someone becoming a really good singer if they are deaf. How does she get the pitch right and maintain it? And how does she enunciate her words clearly. Everyone I've heard who is deaf (unless ac...

"Sociology"????????????????????

You must have made a typo, and meant "Scientology"

Scientology is the worldwide cult that exploits the tax exempt status of churches, and like that.

Sociology is just a subject in school.

Oops! You are correct.

I did mean Scientology.

Doesn't seem to be working very well...last I heard, Moore was leading. The last I heard, the latest polls put it pretty much nose to nose with Jones having a very small lead. Alabama is a state that any Republican candidate should be up by around 20 points. One Senate seat switching parties means ...
